I just bought Flightbeam/29Palms Wellington and was happy to see this in the back of the user manual :groupwave: .

I'd read that it's likely to happen but this makes it even more so, - very excited since this will be my home base and Flightbeam products are very high quality.

Yeah, when I saw the vest I realised where I'd gone wrong trying to get access to NZAA in 2008...

Yes, I actually bought NZWN yesterday, I was waiting till I'd finished NZCH, partly because I didn't have the time (or money), but mainly because I didn't want to feel inadequate:) That's one amazing little scenery.

Yes it is nice but the surrounding coverage is relatively small. It would be nice if you could add the city, and surrounding areas, to enhance the Flightbeam airport scenery as I feel a bit disappointed when I fly over Mt Victoria towards the city and find the standard Orbz NZNI scenery appear quite so quickly. Please consider this :)

Flightbeam are a bit of a tease. They've put NZAA on their Flightbeam Manager program with their other offerings as if it's available already but no matter how hard I click it, it's not available to buy in their sale, which ends in a few hours. I think it'll be out very soon now.

I am not happy to see Flightbeam doing NZAA. Flightbeam has abandoned FSX and concentrated only on p3d :angry: :angry: :angry: :angry: :angry: :angry: :angry: :angry: :angry: :angry: :angry: :angry: :angry: :angry: :angry:

I prefer Godzone to create NZAA because Godzone refuses to abandon FSX.

Why are you getting angry? Lots of developers aren't supporting FSX anymore... it's an old sim. There are some artists that are ONLY developing for P3DV4 now so even 32 bit P3D is being pushed out in some corners. 64 bit sims are the way forward... maybe it's time to upgrade yourself. Honestly, when you get into 64 bit, you'll wonder why you put up with choppy frames for so long.

I don't 'refuse' to abandon FSX, but I have always aimed to support whichever sim local simmers are using. As the first release of the Multisim project, NZCH will have a FSX version, but this is a test of the market, and it may end up being the last. If it took me 3 months to convert it to FSX (and it will take longer, I suspect) then that would mean at least 330 FSX sales to cover that extra development time. If I don't get that sort of uptake, then I won't continue to support FSX.
Part of the problem is that there are fewer FSX users, but it is also a fact that those who stick with FSX are more likely to keep away from payware releases, so ever if there are still 1000 FSX users left in NZ, most wouldn't buy NZCH anyway.
So choppernut makes good sense -- now is a good time to choose a 64bit sim.

I will probably stick with FSX since I have too much invested in scenery and other files and now have less cash than I did, but will wait to see the new Microsoft sim and how much can be used. I did try X Plane but it rapidly became Ex Plane after issues setting up took too long to rectify. I suspect both they and P3D may struggle if M$oft do a better job than they did with their last effort.

This is a constant cycle with flight simulators. I had probably close to $1000 invested in FSX addons that are now redundant and I'm OK with that. Steam breathed (is that a word? ^_^) into FSX but it's still a 32 bit program and it can only gok so far. I doubt very much that Microsofts new sim will have any backwards capability at all given that it appears to have a completely new architecture... I also won't be getting it for a while after it comes out as they have less than stellar reputation since FSX. It could very well go like FSW. Given that they chose to announce it at E3 instead of Flightsim Con thst was on at the same time shows where their priorities are. I hope I'm being cynical and it turns out to be a great sucess but I'm sticking with XP.
Incidentally, what issues did you have with XP?

Basically a controller issue with X Plane 10. All the aircraft tried to use the X runway even if it didn't exist. I had two different joysticks at the time and despite new drivers, neither ever worked.
I have been playing with Flightsim since 1986 and I never had anything like the problems I had with them.

Interesting. Never heard of any of those problems. XP10s UI was bloody awful and XP11 had addressed that. I wouldn't write off XP because of that.

Yes, XP11 has much better controlle4r set up in my opinion though the ground handling was a bit of an issue for me.
