It, uh, looks more realistic than real life? :o

Although the computerised pilot voice talking to ATC must be a new hire F/O; sounds way too enthusiastic... :wink2:

Yes, I think that the average kiwi pilot aims for 'laconic' when it comes to communication -- I guess we will get kiwi accents at some stage, but it would have to come with the ability to turn down the 'excitable' slider...

This video just reaffirms my belief that people are gonna love this sim!

I love the GUI menu. Clear and simple. Having the full Garmin range with an updatable nav database will be a winner. One issue I can see will be support from MS for fixing bugs. I might be wrong but I can’t see them responding quickly, if at all, to minor annoying bugs. I hope I’m wrong but their track record isn’t that good.

I found today, after a couple years out and finally getting my rig re-assembled, that my right toe-brake is permanently on! I have zero enthusiasm for tying to fix it :(
On the MS 2020 front ; dunno, I really don't see the ATC difference here ... I guess the proof will be in the pudding, but until our home PCs are good enough for real-time ATC voice recognition for our replies ... pressing a button for a canned response really will never be quite the same! Maybe in another 15-20 years! :)

It is still in the Aplha stage so the ATC voices might just be a placeholder for future refinement before the Beta starts. I'm sure they will be getting plenty of feedback over it.

Amazing ..... I will have to build a new room to house the gear to run it :ph43r:

It looks like there is a bit more detail to the instructions ATC can give, for example speed restrictions and clearances for SIDs, STARs etc. One of the annoying things with FS2002 through FSX was that they never really upgraded the ATC from a basic "radar vectors everywhere" system. Also looks like flight planning will be a lot easier and keeping the AIRAC cycle up to date is a no-brainer in terms of making the IFR procedural side of the sim far more attractive to people using it as a training aid.

The AIRAC cycle Nav data updates as well as the latest AFCADs with runwa,y taxiway and parking layouts will also make flying online with VATSIM and IVAO so much more easier and realistic.

I may have asked this before, although a lot of the time I write a post then decide to delete it in case I've somehow breached NDA -- have you compared your system with the posted specs for MFS? Where do you fit in? I have said before that even my old system holds up quite well. In another thread I talked about how far I'd want to go to upgrade my system, and I'm now happy that it will a reasonably affordable process.
I do think that the posted specs give a much better idea compared to FSX's, that's for sure, so in the meantime I'd just assume that I can trust them. I did find a site which allowed me to compare any/all CPU/GPUs, but now I can't remember where I found it, but there are a lot of comparison sites around.

If its as good as the updates show and their claims that they have the world covered and airports everywhere with ground services . Does this mean that you will never need to buy airports planes and scenery from third parties? will it be a one off cost or will it be subscription as it sounds as it will be steaming?

The only 'official' word from Microsoft is that this will be a one-time purchase, although it will also be available as part of the Xbox Gamepass. The consensus (if you can call it that, it's been a contentious point) is that they'll make their money from an addon store, apparently accessible from within the sim.

I am hoping that you will still need to buy airports... This makes sense, there are 80 custom airports in the world, and one is in NZ -- NZQN, so I would hope that people will at least want their 'home' airport customised, as well as a few places to fly to. I can't imagine flying from NZCH with a generic tower in place of the Real NZ NZCH version:) But for airports which we just want to visit but don't know well, I'd think there would be a lot of fun to be had with defaults.

from what I have seen published they say that every airport is included, but to what standard i don't know . My credit card is on hold as far as updates for existing sims until I see what the end product is.
