GSX & GSX2

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

GSX & GSX2

Having a bit of spare time on my hands I was mucking around installing gate guidance systems at various airports and getting to grips with SODE. I tried my hand at installing Jetways as well but..........well all I can say is that is a dark art. I couldn't find any freeware (or payware for that matter) anywhere and unfortunately I'm not a modeler so I was out of luck. When searching I came across a video on installing jetways in GSX. Wow what an amazing program. Installing a jetway is very easy and there is a huge selection of customisable models to choose from. I could (and have) spent hours just watching GSX loading and unloading aircraft. Even on my iFly 737 you can watch the catering truck dock to the aircraft and unload trolleys through the aircraft door and into the cabin. Pushbacks are great and the aircraft is accurately placed. Even a custom pushback can be easily and quickly designed.
At the moment Simmarket have the bundle for 46 euros or NZ$86. The ability to even upgrade default airports makes it worth it.
I was working on NFFN (Nadi) but I have found that the AFCAD layout is miles out....more tinkering needed.
I was going to post some shots but if you are interested then there are plenty of videos and guides to found via Google.

Jetways using SODE is really starting from scratch. Modelling the jetway in a 3d program, and 'rigging' it up, setting the limits etc.

If you just want to place some really nice looking jetways (that use SODE), GSX is the way to go.
There are some GSX configs floating around for addon airports for Aussie (he has others if you navigate back using the menu).

Makes a big difference.

I'd love to see your Nadi progress.

Still a bit of fine tuning to do but I'm reasonably happy with it. Just AFCAD with default buildings.
This is the dropbox link with AFCAD, SODE XML file and the GSX ini.

EDIT. Just uploaded new files to same link as of 2130 4 June. Some GSX errors in the initial.

Are there any GSX profiles for Flightbeam's NZWN, or even ORBX NI/SI NZAA and NZCH? I unfortunately haven't been able to find any!
