X-Plane Vulkan 5.0b13

I bit the bullet and gave the latest XP beta (v5.0b13) a whirl. I think it's quite impressive - both in appearance and performance.

For the nerds, this was using FlyAGI, Reshade and ActiveSkyXP.

That does look very nice. I'm waiting for it to be out of beta before I commit as it'll likely break other things.

It won't break anything. I have it installed alongside P3Dv5 and an existing copy of XP11.41 (all on the same drive). If you already have an existing XP11.41, it's a doddle.

XP is a lot "cleaner" than P3D, as it doesn't write masses of stuff into your shared users folders - and 99% of it lives in the original install folder.

My beta install is small, as I just sym-linked my existing scenery and aircraft folders into it. I was surprised at how easy it all was. It's also quite stable, considering it's still beta: looks much better and is faster/smoother - even with all my old add-ons active.

It could cause some visual issues, plugins that render things to the screen still using OpenGL api... but hopefully there’s either an update for the addon that fixes it, or you won’t encounter any issues because the addon doesn’t do the above.
I haven’t had any issues.

The great thing is that it's easy to isolate the offending plugin. I'm lucky - all my favourite ones (and I only have a handful) appear to work flawlessly.

Xp updates tend to break addons. I can't have another version installed because I don't have the room.

I have a fair few add-ons and all seem to work (so far!!!).

As regards HD space - that's what put me off as well. Do you already have XP11.41 installed? If you have, then a minimal new install will work - providing you use symbolic links to your existing 11.41 aircraft and scenery instead.
