NZMC-NZMJ in MSFS

Here's some screenshots for Marty, I might post a bit more often, although there are some reasons why I might wait a bit. First, there are some issues, as people have pointed out. For me, though, the issues are a bit different, as I normally fly the C172 so don't have any of the problems which people have with more complex aircraft. Some of the issues I have are illustrated here, such as the poor elevation resolution and the river data not matching the photos. This is less of a bug and more of a feature of the way the scenery works. All those lovely braided rivers in NZ are constantly changing, so it is unlikely that any river data will align with the photo without doing what us developers have done in the past, mask the photo by hand.

The second reason why I don't always take screenshots is the nature of this sim. Sure, it looks so real you'd think that I'd want to shoot everything, but it also behaves so real, so I get engrossed in the flying. This is impossible to explain, I think I've tried before and failed, but it has a lot to do with a much more effective immersion.

I fly a lot in this part of the world in MSFS, there's something about it, the way the weather and landscape changes during the flight. Here I was planning NZMC to NZGY, but there was a guy in a C152 who seemed to want to tag along, so I refueled and headed on to Martin's Bay. I lost him, of course, as he couldn't climb over the mountains and keep up.

By the way, I know it annoys some people that I leave the multiplayer labels on, but I like it knowing that the skies are full of other happy folk...

After beautiful clear skies all the way (albeit bumpy), the clouds were waiting at Queenstown.

...until then, I hadn't noticed that the temperature was dropping, until the ice appeared. Minus 5 at this point.

Refueling at Glenorchy.

Queenstown is always a popular destination!

Those bloody trees... Where's Orbx when you need them? My first attempt at landing had a truck on the runway!

Shut down and listening to the birds. I am really shut down, but my prop keeps on spinning.

Prior to release, game development and graphics/visual effects industry publication 80 LEVEL described Flight Simulator as "one of the most authentic-looking landscape 3D simulations ever in the history of video games," and states that "Microsoft is not only changing the face of simulators and aerial simulation, but the way companies actually build games.

It's hard to argue.
Thanks Marty.
Thanks Robin.

We'll soon get used to looking at the new sim, and all the millions of newbies will just assume it's... normal.
Be interesting to see what the market will shape this sim to be.
Can it be all things to all people?

The Microsoft and Asobo CEOs in an interview with PC Pilot magazine maintain that MSFS 2020 is for simmers and not gamers. They sat they have watered down the more complex aircraft so that newbie simmers are not scared off. They also say that 3rd party developers are likely to provide the more complex aircraft and addons in the future.

Beautiful scenery - that guy in the fluorescent jacket gets around - saw him yesterday at Bryce Canyon Utah.

Fantastic quality shots of an interesting journey. All are super 'as real as it gets' screenshots, hardly not to say photographical shots.
MSFS beats all other Sim's regarding scenery representation of the real thing together with amazing sky/clouds/water generation.
