Windowlight

Postby toprob » Wed Oct 28, 2020 9:34 pm

Long before I got into flightsim, I wanted my own website, mainly for my Microsoft Publisher tutorials. I didn't want a domain name which would become dated as I moved on, as I liked the idea of keeping one email address throughout my life. Choosing 'Windowlight' was a joke, to amuse my then-girlfriend, but wouldn't mean much to anyone else. A short attempt at a graphic design business let to the 'Design by Windowlight' label, which kind of worked. When the site became 100% flightsim, Windowlight wasn't really relevant to flightsim, for a lot of reasons, mainly the poor rendition of lighting in the sims back then.
Finally, though, I can post a 'Windowlight' screenshot, MSFS of course....

Looks great. There's just one thing missing ... the people enjoying the lighting.

Kind regards, Michael

Yeah, I keep hoping that someone will run with a 'Kiwi folk' addon, as modelling people is not my area. Just a few typical locals you'd seen waiting for their flight, which I could drop into my scenery. Last week I was looking at my old photos I took when I originally built NZDN for Prepar3d, as I wanted to add some details, including the bar stools. In one photo, which I hadn't even noticed before, a woman sitting on the stool right in the centre of my screenshot was glaring at me, I don't think she liked having her photo taken.... now that's a typical kiwi.

Just goes to show.
Now that the tech has caught up, where do you take your ideas now? :D

Well, there's 237 days until I get my pension, so there's that.... retirement, maybe?

The way the reflection changes on the different strips of flooring has been driving me crazy, so I've fixed that today. A 'normal map' issue, didn't have to deal with those in the past -- a whole new set of issues to get to grips with.

Who am I kidding, I'm loving it.

EDIT: Can't afford to retire now, my shares have all taken a tumble today.
