WHY is everything so bloody complicated ??

Postby Splitpin » Wed Dec 02, 2020 8:18 pm

I recently renewed my sub to Adobe for Photoshop and bridge..... my money was snapped real quick, but the update and access were about 3 days behind.
Tonight, I wanted to use it to downsize some pics for the forum....and what a performance....3 emails and a text, just to log on....because I haven't used it for 24 hours!
I understand the security side (I think) but really ....my payment was accepted via an encrypted service ...so it must be me trying to use the software....maybe I'm just tired (not maybe ... I am) but...if I've paid for something I expect to have immediate access.
What happened to the good old days when you got a CD/DVD in the mail ....and it was yours?

This cloud thing is complete BS , and I'm over it

Ah, the 20th Century, I remember that.
I don't recall how my Photoshop purchase went, but I did go through the same thing with 3DS Max -- it wasn't apparent when/how/if I'd get access after paying my money. Still, once it was sorted things have settled down. Lots of things have changed, but the need for patience isn't one of them. Personally I love the Cloud, it means not having to answer the door in my undies.

in my undies.
LOL ... and wearing those favourite old moth-eaten fluffy slippers.

I sympathise with the password thing: you get an email saying update your password, which you do.
Then you try to log in to your account and get told "your email address is not recognized"!

But that's just the tech not keeping up with the admin side.

My pet peeve is the business model that hooks you with a "special" subscription deal.
Then on expiry the subscription rate is upped anywhere from 10 to 100% (Looking at you, Adobe Acrobat) if you don't intervene.
The power companies are the worst culprits.
I have had to leave, go elsewhere for a month, and then come back as a "New" customer to get the same rate I had for the previous 2 years.

Do these guys think people can be scammed by stealth, because they don't know what happens in their bank accounts??

Feel your pain Marty.
Have you tried Microsoft Powertoys? It's free and has an image resizer that's very easy to use. Right click on the image and away you go.

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

Yeah your right Marty pretty much all companies now are happy to sign u up and suck out that $$$ huh.

Have you had a play with Gimp? Not sure exactly how much you need to do photos wise but TBH altho Photoshop is amazing for most mere mortals is way overkill. Check out Gimp, it's free, I've been using it for many years...
