I usually test it by transparently pasting the screenshot over the RW photo, so: replication.
In the above instance it needed the camera dollied up and back with some more zoom.
Easy if the camera is free but in AFS2, I could not be arsed to fiddle it.
In a way I admire the Devs for totally ignoring users' pleas for this or that feature :) as it doesn't distract them from their mission, whatever that might be!

Charl, how do you alter the transparency before pasting ?

Marty I use ancient software from MS: Photodraw.
It can set transparency from 0 - 100% on the selected object.
I imagine most imaging software can do this?

Here's my R vs S desk:

I try to eyeball the screenshot as best I can, then paste it next to the reference photo.
Usually by the 3rd attempt they correspond reasonably in terms of perspective.

Then making the screenshot a little transparent, it can be slid over the photo and resized and finally checked.
Maybe one more iteration and it's done: Make it opaque and set up the double picture.

Often you need to imagine where the photographer was standing.
In this case it was on the roof of an adjacent building.
Instead of just going there in the sim, I fiddled with the camera position, and got it wrong.
Often impatience wins out over accuracy...
