EMB 110 Bandeirante and Air New Zealand Link

As most of You know we have as a new Model for MSFS ... the Embraer EMB "Bandeirante". It is meanwhile gone. I think. For the German FS magazine I may be writing an article about this type. So I'm interested in whether any of you can tell me about the story of this guy in New Zealand. How did they get to New Zealand? How long have they been used by you? On which routes were they used? What later became of the machines? What is also interesting for me is how to use these machines. As far as I know these machines did not have a pressurized cabin and you have such high mountains on the South Island...

The first BANDIT/BANDEIRANTE arrived in NZ around 1980 .... as I recall .... entering service with Hamilton based EAGLE AIR.

It's since been used extensively within NZ (and it's associated Pacific territory) .... primarily linking main centers to provincial cities.

It's seen service with AIR NATIONAL, AIR NEW ZEALAND LINK (after it acquired EAGLE AIR), AIR RAROTONGA, MENZIES AVIATION, NORTH SOUTH AVIATION, REX AVIATION, the "very short-lived" TRANS GLOBAL and CITY JET, and TRANZAIR (and in conjunction with ANSETT NEW ZEALAND).

Not sure if any still remain in service within NZ now .... since despite being "stuck here" for the moment I've been living outside NZ for the extended periods during the past 20 years.

As far as I know these machines did not have a pressurized cabin and you have such high mountains on the South Island

A pressurized version was actually mooted by EMB, but, didn't eventuate.

The highest mountains in NZ's South Island are the north to south chain formed by the Southern Alps. I'm not sure, but, I suspect the BANDITS/BANDEIRANTE's used in the south might have followed coastal routing along both sides of the Alps rather than traversing them.

Again .... I've been living outside NZ longer than within it during these past 20 years .... until getting "stuck here" since last March

Thank you very much for the very rich news. There is always a lot of information about the big aircraft and military aircraft. With the small regional airliners you often have to "dig deeper" and it would not be clever to forgo the experience and material that is available.
Thank you now that I have just received my copy and the contract for the test. Now I'm going to go after the original. I'm looking forward to being in New Zealand again.
