I'm glad that Pima will be looking after her, what a fantastic place that would be to visit. Also glad I got to see her on her very last visit down here.

We went to both both PIMA and DAVIS MONTHAM AFB several years ago .... also took-in the FUERZA AEREA COLOMBIANA, CHINO, YANKS, MARCH AFB, and DOUGLAS/Santa Monica aviation collections/museums during that same trip.
PIMA's an "AWESOME" place .... but .... one needs to allocate "at least 2 full days there" (as we did) in order to "properly appreciate" the extensiveness of its vast aerospace collection.
Jim (my brother) made the following video based on images "he shot" during that trip ....
I've done Pima twice, both times taking one day. Yes it's a lot but provided you get there as the place opens, it's perfectly feasible to get around in one hit. For those on a time budget, I'd recommend the museum at March. A lot of the same types but a lot smaller, some of the stuff inside is interactive and it's a hell of a lot cooler outside. March is also an active military station so there's usually flying going on. Did Planes of Fame and Yanks at Chino, best part of a day at each. The USS Midway in San Diego is well worth a look as is the San Diego Air and Space Museum but I'd recommend going out to their other collection at Gillespie Field also. Haven't been to Wright Patterson yet but I've been told that THAT museum requires two full days.
In short, a lot of good museums in the US that require a day to get around
Nick, I remember your photo essay on Pima Mark, great link to your brother's youtube post.... I would need at least 3 days there....just to soak up the History.
"SURE" .... one can get around it all in a single day if one wishes .... no problem at all .... and also still include the side trip to next door DAVIS MONTHAM AFB too.
The only reason I recommend 2 full days there is in regard to photography (which takes time) .... "exploiting seasonal position of the sun" in order to do one lot/side of the outdoor exhibits during the morning (on day 1) followed by the other lot/side the next day and both in optimum lighting conditions ..... at least that's the case there during the month of June.
The following is a bit of what myself (and Jim) shot at Tucson of day 3 of that trip and after having haunted PIMA and DAVIS MONTHAM during the first 2 days theere ....
