Poor old Gordy

A few years ago I met him in a back stage drinks thing after a concert of his in San Diego, was there with some Canadians who were big fans and talked our way back stage coz of them being, well, Canadian. Anyway, he was such a nice guy, talked politely to each of us individually. Seemed like a real gentleman.

There's been more than a handful of the worlds famous/once prominent performers/entertainers leave the launching pad and shooting into space recently

Canadian singer/songwriter Gordon LIGHTFOOT is one with a long and very respected track record .... dating back to the mid 70's when I first became aware of him and his music.

Think he liked ships, boats, and the sea/lakes a lot since these featured in a number his hit songs .... some of which which tended to be represented as "a story" ....

I agree Mark, gone but never forgotten ...the opening chords to Edmund Fitzgerald are legendary by themselves.
Songs that tell stories and recall history always rank highly with me.

As Mark comments, I do get the feeling that the artists we grew up with, are coming to the end of the road at an alarming rate.
But their music lives on.
In fact, Tidal (amongst others) carries so many remastered greats, it's like hearing them for the first time!
