Thankfully for those of us that build models, the RAF Meteors were never polished like this but were painted in a colour known as High Speed Silver. The 'Meatbox' is still an impressive performer to this day.

Old lady indeed, but they had a long life. Did they always have the Derwent turbines ?...I should know.
