GAS Stearman - Tauranga

Postby Charl » Mon Jan 29, 2024 6:22 pm

Always have liked the Stearmans in the sims, suits my capabilities as a pilot!
Enjoying this one from Golden Age and the JK palette, too.

Going too high the carbs will ice, or something.
No matter, it's a great glider

Thanks for the comments!

Umm yes I slewed up and overcooked it, decided to take the scenic shot anyway.
Interesting the engine ran for a bit then coughed and spluttered and died.
I imagine Stearmans do not belong up there.
DK I could do a MP in that beastie, with practice one could loop the loop, even fly downside up for a bit.

I got my GAS version going after a bit of a false start ... and what better way to celebrate than with a local livery by the prodigious Jankees!
I hope you don't mind me adding my shots to your thread!

MSFS "Eye Candy" gets better and better ... but I wish they'd address the myriad *simulation* issues! Chronic ATC, unreal weather etc.

Adam I think the 2024 version of MSFS would likely address the core issues that are by now well described!
I hope you don't mind
Not at all, in fact there's more to come here to do NZTG justice.
And an excuse for some more low and slow.

I wish the AI traffic was fixed...oh for GNZLAP.(was that what it was called?)

Rumor has it, someone is working on NZTG....

The freeware FSLTL is pretty good, IMHO. Lots of accurate liveries and schedules but I don't think MSFS ATC interfaces with them all too well.

GNZLAP sound like an affliction! Yes - I thought NZTG was imminent (a while back!). Looking forward to it.

It was indeed, and pronounced "Jeanzlap" which I agree sounds like an affliction.

The Great New Zealand Light AI Project was close to an affliction for sure, running from August 2006 to December 2008.
A whole lotta work, it is unlikely to be repeated at that scale and level of detail: around 300 GA planes, each located and flying from its RW NZ place.
Many people gave their time and talent, many enjoyed the fruits of that labour - over 20,000 downloads!

I stopped sharing my FS efforts when VOZ or ORBX - whatever, bless their cotton socks - cherrypicked the GNZLAP and included random bits in their own Australasian AI package.
Strangely there still exists a topic in this very Forum for it, although can't think there would be any relevance today.

Perhaps MSFS 2024 will use real AI to generate all the world's Flightsim AI, in real time?
It's entirely possible.

There are two additional addons that enhance FSLTL: AI Ground and AI Flow. Both work well, but I rarely use them - quite happy with FSLTL as it is. A word of warning though - FSLTL pulls [RL] flights from FlightRadar - so you're not going to see much in your sim at (say) NZAA at 4am.

...and bringing the AI back to the original screenshot thread:
I run GAST shipping AI and it's great to have the Floating Ones turn up every now and then.

Great minds think alike Adam, I see this one turned up in yours for the Feb banner, just from the other side!

...and maybe JK could manage another NZ paint or two so we can do the multi thing with different aircraft!
