C-130 ground movements

Jono, my brother and I witnessed some odd 40 Sqn activity on Monday this week. Jono got the photos.
Background. Herc 02 was parked on the deep freeze apron when we arrived with ground power hooked up.
Crew of 4 or so boarded after the walk around and engines started. Then Herc 01 landed, parked in front of 02, shut down the 2 outboard engines and proceeded to offload a few pax plus luggage.
Once the transfer was complete , 01 proceeded to the ramp, 02 moved to runway for a short take off, and did just that.









Job done. Great work with the photos Jono Could be the last time we see these two old girls working.

Please forgive me for stupid question but what is "deep freeze" apron, please? Is it nickname for cold start procedures?

Thanks for looking Aharon. Not a stupid question at all, wrong of me to assume everybody knows what I do ...so,

The deep freeze apron is the area in front of the U.S Antarctic program hanger. Almost all military visitors are parked there. That area has been really busy over the last week, with F-16s , KC-135T, C-17 , C-130H and J-30 and others.

You may recognize the blue hanger in the background, its really well modelled in TopRobs NZCH scenery.

See the photo below. That hanger is one of, if not the oldest buildings at NZCH. The U.S has been operating from here since 1955, supporting their Antarctic and other interests.

Great shots of a great aircraft. Probably one of, if not the last time two RNZAF C-130Hs will be seen together.
The KC-135T looks great as a triple point tanker.
