Not a model railway, or even an airport

Every year my family had a 'secret santa' system, so nobody has to spend a lot of money on presents for everyone. Well, apart from the kids. The emphasis is on making something, recycling or at least low-cost.
Once again I drew my son, Thomas*, so I thought I'd make something for him using my 3D printer. He's a big LOTR fan, when he was a kid we bought him all the limited edition DVDs, which included the figurines, such as Gollum, and Minas Tirith. Now he's definitely not a kid, in fact he's bordering on middle-aged, and he works for Weta Workshop. You know the place, where they make all the intricate, beautiful bits and pieces for use in major movies, and produce finely-crafted miniatures which you can buy from their store -- currently I'm really keen on their new Edoras, at NZ$1,413.52.
So, what do you give someone who mixes with the crafts-folks who build these amazing things? If you are stupid, you make him your own roughly crafted LOTR miniature:)

*I am a bit of a grumpy old man when it comes to the secret santa draw, as I refuse to have to buy for -- or receive from -- my ex-wife or her husband. So because of me, the draw is somewhat fixed.

That is a very clever piece of work. What sort of scale is it?

Cheers, the actual facade was downloaded from the web:) It's bigger than it looks, probably 1:34 depending on the size of a hobbit. So 'O' gauge. My eyesight isn't what it was, so I gave myself a bit more to work with.

My son's birthday is next month, without the restrictions on how much to spend, so I'm thinking of getting him a bonzai tree to go with it.
