You gotta laugh....

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

You gotta laugh....

Postby toprob » Sat Mar 22, 2025 6:39 pm

This morning there were reports on the MSFS forum that those of us who had been on the beta suddenly got a complete reinstall of MSFS24, and all their configs etc were lost. Those with default Community folder locations also lost all that. So I thought if I didn't touch the sim it'd be sorted by the time I used it next. However I've just noticed that my sim has disappeared, the MS Store download list just says 'something happened on our end'. Yeah, right.

I've been pretty positive about the teething issues with MSFS24, as I'm sure the same thing happened with 2020, but maybe it's time to find a new hobby again.

Nope just re-install FSX or P3D and enjoy it Smiling

That is why I am still sticking with FSX and will do so for next 2 or 3 years until MS2024 becomes perfect and problem-free.

I am guessing that MS2024 was trying to re-create what happened to Heathrow airport yesterday hence MS2024 disappearing in all computers of flight simmers considering the fact I heard that MS2020 and MS2024 are using live stream of Google Earth during flight simming.

Oh the joy of Beta testing. Still for a company like Microsoft that’s amateurish. A good kick up the backside for Asobo.

I hope I will be still alive in that year!!

ToProb said his flight sim vanished into thin air. What I was trying to say is that when Heathrow was closed due to some fire, ToProb's flight sim might followed real world example of Heathrow by temporarily disappearing for 24 hours.

You will be surprised that some people are still doing that after experiencing P3D or MS2020/2024 :D :D :D

I'm the same as DashCap...but not as many flights.
The only problems I've had with MSFS2020 have been related to addons, or me....all of which were fixed quickly.
I have always been slow to upgrade or try anything new , if I'm feeling happy and stable with one platform.
Having said that , I did until recently have every available flight sim on the market loaded and ready to go... some of which were border line flight sim, but included aircraft.
Going to MSFS was a leap of faith for me, having read the horror stories about it... none of which confronted me because 2024 was now the sim of choice.
I have now put almost all the rest into storage, the only four active platforms are 2020 , Xplane12, War thunder and IL2.
I still use War Thunder (Combat Sim) as it provides great screenshot material, as does IL-2.

FS2024 will find its place , and I do understand your love of FSX, I resisted it for ages when I was in FS something, and thinking this is great....but its over..it cant compete....but if you're happy there, stay there.

I will point out that on FSDeveloper there's someone building NZAA for FS2004. So all you FSX early adopters will probably miss out.
Recently I bought FSX SE, but I normally forget to try it.

Must say, FS2004 is - STILL - my sim of choice.
The user interface, the number of brilliant addons, the sheer INTEGRITY of the thing.

Not so much the later spawn... even MSFS 2020 still has bugs that the community would've ironed out by now.
Nope.
Still waiting for a decent recorder and flyby, and a camera system that allows proper "photographic" navigation instead of 14 - 14 - keyboard operators.
Etc etc the list is long, of Things We Had.

Imagine if RTX 5090 graphics could be reversed into that sim. Whoa

Well your loss mate, i know what FS2004, FSX & P3d was like and it just doesnt compare in any way to MSFS, you can keep going on about FSX but not many of us are persisting with it lol

Toprob,

I thought you made FSX version of NZAA that is almost finished but is still presentable for anyone who wants to use. Correct??? I am too embarrassed that I do not have FSX version of NZAA scenery.

Well I would not worry about that. I have indicated many times in past posts on NZAA forums that i do plan to move to MS2024 in 2 or 3 years. I am still waiting for MS2024 to have all commercial airline planes like FSX has. I am NOT giving up all historic jets to move to MS2024. So I am waiting until MS2024 has ALL historic airline jets. I always believe in creating screenshots showing history of commercial aviation.
