The learning curve here is actually vertical, for me at least.
I purchased the Tornado and added the Air show assistant thing as well.
I couldn't find the bloody park brake for the beast, so had to slew up, and then engage the air show addon. Not interested in smoke etc, just formations.
Really looking forward to nailing this...just need to pace myself....this whole msfs (2020) thing is amazing.

Complicated as it appears, it still doesn't scratch the surface of what the Digital Integrations Tornado did all those years ago (1993) - where you could plan a multi-aircraft attack to the second.

I remember a great story of a German journalist challenging a Tornado's accuracy. The pilot said "name a time and place (anywhere in Germany) and I'll be there ... *on the second*". So they agreed a time and place, synchronised watches and the journalist set up his tripod+camera. Five seconds to go ... nothing ... four, then three then two .. still nothing. At *precisely* zero seconds, the Tornado stormed over the hedge at just subsonic speed, nearly knocking over the camera, tripod and photographer. Guess who ended up buying the drinks!!!

“Oh, the flying Christmas tree with variable wings!” That’s how the first Tornados of the Bundeswehr were often mocked. In the East, they impressed us less than other aircraft of their time. Of course, the Tornado was in a different class compared to the “iron thrower” MiG 23BN, which had a poor reputation in the NVA. We lost several aircraft during low-level flights, which led to the saying: “Make a mistake, and it will take you down.” In the GDR, there was already discussion about replacing it with the Su-25, which proved to be a solid ground-attack aircraft.

Even in the Gulf War, the Tornado did not perform as impressively as hoped. Despite its modern design and versatile capabilities, the technical impression fell short of expectations.

I have a lasting memory of Tornado crew being paraded on TV by Iraqi soldiers after being shot down.
Trawling some likely sources on the interwebs is no help, very surprisingly there is no definitive tally of losses to be found.
Some speculate that around 10 Tornado's were lost.

Watched two lengthy YT videos. Both mentioned the parking brake but neither one showed where it was. In AFS I have the toe brakes mapped to the rudder pedals and when I can't find the bl**dy handle, a quick full application and release on both will set me free.

Made it through another day without getting shot or stabbed .....I really shouldn't joke as we had a stabbing/assault at work about 2 weeks or so ago.

Anyway, thanks again for the replies...and Adam for finding the park brake , just about got to that page in the manual (245 pages) and re-heat was going to be my next question

Mike... before I found the manual I was watching YT stuff as well...only ever a reference to the brake , no location....but thanks mate.

All great shots of a great aircraft...as much as I like the IDS/GR4 variants, I still like the looks of the F.Mk.3, I think, the ADV variant with the long needle-nose with the Foxhunter radar.
