Introducing Doug ..but not as we know him.

Doug is a 1 year old Rottweiler who has joined our campus security team.
He has taken a liking to me....which is nice, but can be painful sometimes.
If I happen to be in sight of him during the day, he will drag his handler toward me...if I give a thumbs up, he will release the chain and Doug will come running and skipping toward me ...and then knock me over and sit beside me.
For such an intimidating creature, he is very caring.... a few weeks ago he encountered a very damaged Black bird (probably a cat attack) ...his handler had him off the collar at that time and expected the worst...but no....the bird was 99% done, but he lay down beside it until I arrived and buried it .

The eyes and facial expressions do it for me every time.
So similar to our Hooman Faces....
..some of us even have long noses!
Amazing creatures in the animal world.
We get very attached!

I know and love the dogs, German Shepherds especially.
There can be a bond which you have to experience to understand.
But I have seen a Rottie in anger, and I will always treat them with the greatest respect, and at arms' length.
They are bred for a purpose, and that is why they pull the duty they do.
Crossed with a Doberman, it is a Machine.
