Where I went with my R66

It's what I think of as a "casual" aircraft, you just take it and go somewhere.
This may be what it does in the real world, for that matter.

So I had a look at Wellington, before it blew away.
And then with RW weather took a trip from Mercer down the Waikato River, past Huntly to Hamilton.
Thought: why not nip over to Te Kuiti, see what's there.
Got some weather, and had to make a big dogleft to the left.
Landed safely, and showed the tourists the glow worms at Waitomo.

Then: a hop over to Great Barrier from NZNE. Around half an hour with this machine, it is just so accessible.
More weather, a little bumpy over Waiheke while threading the needle, but nothing we could not handle.
Haven't been there for ages, and I believe it is fast turning into the playground that was Waiheke in the earlier days.

I'm pleased with the sim, too.
The mesh and ground detail in a place that is not exactly in the flightsim spotlight, is remarkable.

I didn't really expect to, but I do like my R66, and what it allows.

Nice shots Charl. Do you prefer the Robbie to the 500?

Thanks CP, kind of VW plays Porsche in my mind:
I'd take the Robbie on the shopping commute any day, but the Alpine Adventure belongs to the 500.

The 145 is great screen food, but I'm only using about 10% of what it can do...super complex systems, as you know.
The R66 is lovely, but mission wise a bit dull I think. The H-125 is great, but other than the 145 I really enjoy the Huey and the 500.
If only some of the War Thunder helicopter models could be used in msfs.....top my list there would be the Wessex believe or not...love them.

Goodness me... warts 'n all, that Wessex :D

As to the wargames... Years ago I became subsumed in Jane's F-15E.
It had a (paper) manual thicker than a telephone directory.
I could recite that thing by rote, and could carry out missions against Iran with 99% success.
Never gave up, totally obsessed with getting 100%.
Only with a change of life and circumstance including dumping the PC was I able to unshackle this obsession.

So I steer clear of them, from considerations of mental health
Nice models though.

Oh, and the pictures are made with MS Photodraw, which has travelled over many installations and time.
I think it dates from the 1980's.
