Sounds sensible, esp the areas they're looking to focus on, can't imagine any airline or big business who wants to be competitive these days NOT using AI in various ways

I dont normally use AI directly, but recently I searched on Co pilot for a few items and 2 of the 3 returns contained incorrect information. I've been around long enough to know that some of this content was incorrect, but what about the younger generations; the ones that cannot work out change or believe any answer that a mathematical calculator comes up with?
I'm surprised the US haven't come up with the name Skynet as a name for their defense system yet. It's ultimately where we are headed.

AS CP points out, the current version is never perfect, but you can't be seen using the previous one because it... is previous.

I wouldn't mind giving my entire persona to Google, but they have to get it right.

Yeah Charl it's defo a FOMO thing partly, but also a competitive advantage thing if it's done right. AI shows promise right now and will increasingly do so over time, and if used in less-risky/non-safety-oriented applications (lots of general business/admin/marketing activities in an airline are not related directly to flying or maintaining the aircraft) there's efficiencies to be made and money to be saved.... and we all know its ALL about profit

That surprised me - the term dates from the ANZAC era, so I assumed it would be well known in NZ. The American equivalent 'scuttlebutt' evolved for the same reasons, back in the sailing days. Fresh water was carried, but only for drinking. It was stored in the hold in barrels, and on deck there was a butt, which is just a particular size of barrel, that was filled with water, hence 'the scuttled butt' with its associated gossip and rumours.

It is certainly THE current management buzzword, but I'm sure there will be tears before bedtime. Computers are excellent at following precisely a set of instructions, but they cannot 'think', so the old 'garbage in = garbage out' rule still applies. BTW, the distaff side claim that is why computers should be considered male - because they have to be told exactly what to do
