BAe-146 ....again.

After making those bold comments in the other 146 post (about Wanaka being similar to NZMC) I thought I would check.
So I paid $30 or so bucks for Wanaka, and put the 146 in front of the main terminal..... it is similar... ...ish ...but the high ground is not as close as it is at the rock.
But I guess if you don't know the area , a small airport on the south island with mountains and snow...could be Mount Cook...maybe.

Aharon, I'm not saying what you saw was at Wanaka, just trying to solve the problem

I do have a personal link to Wanaka and Ansett...I may have bored you with this in the past. but if not, allow me to do so now :)

Back in my tour driving life , last century ....I was tasked with relocating a tour coach from Queenstown to Christchurch over the Easter holiday.
I had 12 hours to get back, so I had a sleep in and a late breakfast at the hotel.
Found the coach.....Coach parking in Queenstown over a long weekend is awful, and can sometimes be a 20/30 minute taxi ride...sometimes even to Wanaka.
Anyway, boring story cut short.....got a call to divert to or back to Wanaka and pick up crew and pax from an Ansett aircraft, and drop at NZCH.

I'm pretty sure the 146, had gravel fired into the engines (suspected) by another aircraft leaving the parking area....not a 100% on that.
I did manage to get those people home safely....but not as fast as they expected.

I certainly hope I was not influencing or motivating you to cough up 30 bucks to buy that scenery! Smiling

That is okay It might be true that your 2 screenshots can be mistaken as NZMC Mount Cook as it would be for real world photos too but however I remember seeing photos with words Mount Cook airport. BUT BUT you are right that to anyone, Wanaka can be mistaken as NZMC
