Flight Report: Subic Bay (RPLB) → Sanya (ZJSY)

Aircraft: Cessna Citation CJ3+ (Toliss Add-on, MSFS)
Weather: Live weather via REX Weather Force 2020

Flight Summary:
The flight followed a standard IFR route across the South China Sea. En route, conditions were generally stable, allowing for smooth cruising.

Approach & Landing:
The landing on Runway 26 at Sanya was challenging due to a rapidly developing thunderstorm. Strong winds over the surrounding mountains and reduced visibility required constant attention. The autopilot was not always quick enough to compensate for sudden gusts, necessitating manual corrections. Despite these conditions, the final touchdown was safe, though demanding.

Remarks:
This flight highlights the importance of vigilant monitoring in dynamic weather situations. The TZoliss CJ3+ handled the cruise predictably, but approach and landing required full pilot attention due to wind shear and limited visual cues.

Well you've picked a region which regularly has some extreme weather, not sure that bird is up to it?
I'd want something a little beefier maybe...

True enough – even a CJ3+ has its limits, and in some weather situations it’s better to wait it out on the ground. In this case the core of the storm had already moved north, so I felt it was safe to give it a go. The last miles were still a handful though.
