The longest update.

Postby Splitpin » Tue Sep 23, 2025 7:10 pm

I haven't been on DCS for sometime now , and many updates have been missed.
So I decided to log back in and update....my computer has been working for the last 48 hours ! .... and is still pulling in information from cyberspace.
Several times I was tempted to push the cancel button, but didn't, and let it run all night again...only to wake up and find it still had 12 hours left.
To be fair, DCS is a big sim, and the download/unpack rate is only 1.1Mb/s ...but really. I just hope it works :D

Will keep you posted.

yeah some of the updates can be huge, especially if you have a few addons. The latest for me was 72Gb and that was with just the Fa18 plus Syria and Afghanistan maps.

1.1mb/s seems really really low. There must be something slowing it all down. I have fast internet and mine will vary between about 16 and 24 mb/s. I guess that depends on how busy it is at their end.

Good luck

Thanks SA,
It all came together early this morning ....updated my details etc.
I checked all my serial numbers etc, everything in place but needed reloading.....ticked the ones I wanted to use, and away it went. Download time 13.5 hours  (1hr 4mins to go as we speak)
I think the download speed is due to my connection, and the number of devices in use here.
Anyway, I'm back in the zone...almost...will advise.

Had a spin in the Mig-29 this morning...so I guess I'm back.
Slowly re installing my existing purchased stuff.
The whole thing so far has consumed over 300Gb, and it runs well....and I'm still down 8Gb of ram, no complaints here.
Replacement ram will be done this weekend.
