Chorus Outage: 48 Hours of Hell

3 things you cannot live without:
  • Power
  • Water
  • Decent internet

I didn't realise how badly a Chorus service interruption would affect our household.
Living in a cellphone shadow = no comms without wifi calling (we chucked the copper line way back because it was wholly unreliable!)
Having "Smart" devices all over the place means NOTHING works, not even the lights.
Not to mention the daily surf all over the internet, without which we are just plain STUPID.
And of course the evening's entertainment (being streamed) is kaput.

Hope Marty posted something nice while I dwelled in the Wildernes...

Yep feel your pain.

Moved to Starlink a few years back due to the copper wire failing constantly, no fibre in the sticks.
And have a generator on standby to power the water pump, hotwater, TV and internet if needed. Been used 3 times in 2 years.

Oh did I mention MSFS 2020 ceases to run without an umbilical cord back to the the Mother$hip?
I have thought about solar, Powerwall, and Starlink as a total solution but you know, these are all eggs in one Musk basket.

Hmmm…. That’s what’s stopping me moving to MSFS2024 - very poor copper internet connection with.no alternative possible except for Starlink - but I’m not so sure about making that regular financial contribution…..
