Howdy,

Conversion rates kill NZ simming.

Approximately NZ$3 to the English pound, which roughly equates to 25 pounds. Admittedly, it's expensive, but then so was the scenery Misty Fjords or Flight Sim Design Studio 3.

Of course, there's always the freeware Moth by Bill Lyons.

Yeh but look what you get for your 80 odd bucks, the model is questionable (I've never been a just flight fan) and obviously you dont get an MFD or FMC  even at 25 squid in the UK someone is making a killing.

I know... I personally feel that there's only so far you can push the envelope with light aircraft models.

Larger aircraft have far more systems to model, so you get more for your buck.

yup true, if a model is good enough for a light AC I would pay for it (good GMAX built, nice Panel, VC, Sounds etc) but certainly not 80 odd bucks, and if I built one for payware I wouldent charge over 35 a shot for it.

$80? :o Are you serious?

I thought Eaglesoft's Cirrus SR-22 was an expensive buy at NZ$60, but that includes a full glass cockpit, detailed interior and a parachute emergency system! +It can travel at more than 120 kias unlike the ole' Moth, lol

If I were you, stick with a freeware moth for fs9 like Dorain suggested. Warwick Carter's model is excellent, and now has many ZK- paints to it thanks to Cbris. Get it from: www.gjsmith.net/Textures/tigermoth.htm

Bill Lyons' one is also a favorite of mine :plane:

yeh not really interested in a moth I was just cruising Gamesman and came across it and was thinking how some of these payware sods have the balls to price things like that

Then I thought I could quit my job and build shitty planes full time for a buck or 2 :ph43r:

The Gamesman have about 5 more addons coming for FS9 & FSX made by the same company, and just as crappy, but for those who don't follow the flightsim community like we do, would consider these addons as a godsend and may not even know about the huge amount of quality pay/freeware thats out there.

About to get the Captain Sim C130, just need to make sure my wife doesn't get hold of my credit card statement

Putting a packaged product into a retail store is gonna double the price at least. Markups in the flightsim addon world are not great, but retail is different, that's for sure. This is the only thing holding me back from putting Real New Zealand stuff into stores. Add shipping, a returns/support infrastructure for non-web users(yuck!), retail markup and GST, and it can't compare with a download.
However I agree that this would be great for someone who isn't aware of anything online, its the only way to expand their sim. We take it for granted that online is the way to go, but there are a huge number of folk out there who just don't bother with it.

I can't see many people buying it at that price unless you are 100 yrs old with a real passion for Tiger Moths!
Somone will probably buy it just so they can distribute it for nothing to everyone just to teach justflight not to be so justgreedy.
If it was a complex aircraft we could understand but there's few planes simpler than a Tiger.
Aeroplane Heaven have a pretty good freeware selection too and are very good developers and their stuff is worth paying for.
Maybe the guy or team really put alot into it and it may be a real gem! Well I better not Knock it till I've tried it! (Too much)
There are both freeware and payware Tiger Moths available already so this one would have to be pretty good to compete.
I have some payware aircraft, and particularly Helo's that are a disgrace to payware developers. It is clear to make the distinction between those who are doing it soley for money and those who genuinely love what they are doing but realize that love doesn't pay the bills so have to charge for their work so they have the time to spend on it.
Jordan Moore's Bell 412 is a good case. It is freeware but took over 2.5 years to get done and he explains why he decided to make it free even though it is definately payware material. We can all think of aircraft and sceneries that are free that are payware quality.
I wish I had a bit more disipline (I'm working on it) to stick with just a few aircraft types and become really good and familiar with them before I move on to another one. You know like in real life! I've been known, although not too often to change aircraft while in midflight. Personally I have enough planes and Helo's and am only interested in sceneries now and of course hardware which is my first priority. A yoke and pedals and now even a throttle quadrant have increased my sim experience way more than any aircraft or scenery as flying at night and in bad weather is what alot of us I'm sure need more practice with.
The Tiger well really the Gypsy Moth is what Francis Chichester flew from NZ to Norfolk I think using a sextant and his own method of navigation! A truly remarkable man he was.
2 wrongs don't make a right but 2 Wrights made an aeroplane!

Gears of War -- apparently the best Xbox 360 game ever. I've just ordered it from Zillion/GPStore for $90. I think it's a better deal than a Tiger Moth for the same price...

I am partial to a Tiger Moth having flown in one - guess I am nealry half way to 100 years  .

I guess it is economies of scale - you wouldn't sell any where near as many Tiger Moth add ons, although I doubt as many hours would be put in developing it.

The Tiger is available for download as a seperate civilian and military download from Aeroplane Heaven for $28us - still a bit to dear for me since the Captain Sim C-130 (sale price), Saab Safir, anything Carenado and the Dornier DO-27 are cheaper and the Dreamfleet Baron loaded full of avaonics is just a tad dearer (and for that matter the A-36 Bonanza is cheaper).

Cheers

Paul

It is the best XBOX 360 game ever, you wont be disappointed, but perhaps that screenie was from the CFS3 version of the tigermoth? The tiger is a real beast in hiding!!

it did play here on MGM a few years ago

Gears of War is based on the same Unreal game engine as UT2k7 will be based on. cheaper than buying an x360 for me
