Yeah no real problems Charl, I just installed everything in FSX. Installation is the same except you have to put the aircraft in your Simobjects/Rotorcraft folder.

The NZQW elevation cause the water level to raise above the wharf

Mine was set up on 20m mesh to look like this:

I live with the bulge in the water, but I see I also have floating gas pumps...well maybe Robin can help out there.
The water is really sensitive so try changing the airport altitude (+rwy) by a foot or so.

Yes, the floating objects were elevated above sea level so that they sat on the wharf, but of course when the sea level changes -- as has happened here -- then they rise up into the air.
Here's a fix, which should glue the objects to the wharf.
QueensWharfFix.zip
Real the enclose instructions to install.
This is for FS2004 only. I'll do a FSX version later.

You'll notice that I deleted my original reply, but you must have read it before it disappeared:)
I re-read your email and it was obvious that you were talking about FSX, and since I hadn't yet checked out your comment about the floating objects, I had a look and sure enough they are 70cm up in the air. I must have lowered the wharf a little for the FSX patch. I'm just testing a fix at the moment. I'll need to patch the patch.

Nope. You can change the .air file with one of the available utilities, but the model is not a true helo as FS doesn't cater for AI helo's!
So it won't hover, or fly like a helo at all.
This is why the AFCADs are strange - they have to taxi a bit before takeoff, and I make them do that into thin air so it looks better.

But the flyable model is available on AVSIM

Where exactly is this located? Is it the same place as Reeve airdrome?

Trolly, Its at Reeve Airstrip, which is actually now called "Waiheke Island" Airstrip as reeve no longer exists... The Westpac Chopper actually lands at Waiheke High School, on their field. It has a designated landing area there :)

Oh ok, thanks for the info.

I agree with Matt, Charl. Your way of presenting screenshots is really cool

Also, thanks Robin for that Queen's Wharf fix. I really need to learn how to fly Helicopters this summer!

Thanks for the kind words! Here follows the last page of the Don'treadme, my personal favourite as there is so much to see and do.

Actually there is one included flight for those not of the rotorhead persuasion, and it's probably the best one:
It's called "NZMF - Te Anau.FLT" and it puts you in a Cessna above this bit of terrain, where a helicopter is about to take off from one of the crags.
Follow it (I actually prefer to use the Porter for this) all the way down to Te Anau

I just tried coming into land at Queen's Wharf and found this:
user posted image
This is using the 10 AI squirells package, along with Robins fix.

Would this have anything to do with the 'TERRAIN VERTEX LEVEL=19' line in the fs9.cfg?

I still have that landslide next to the runway at NZWN, and when I try to fix it by changing the VERTEX to =21, I get 'ripples' all over my 20m terrain which looks horrible, espcially in the early morning and evening when they cast shadows...

It's a tough one, trying to make AFCADs work for everyone...
Not being a scenery designer, the best I can do is create an AFCAD that works for my particular setup, which it does (see above).

So if Robin doesn't have a quick answer for this (and I don't know that he should spend time on it, his scenery works OK without this after all!) the next best thing is for you to download Lee Swordy's AFCAD programme and fiddle with the AFCAD until you're happy.
In truth, AFCAD is pretty straight forward, and it allows you to do little custom tweaks to your airports which can really add to the FS experience.
I'd be happy to give advice, too.

I was cruising around my home city today, and discovered a new hill rising out of the CBD!

Another volcano for the region perhaps? :P I think not, as if you look closely, there is a helipad on the top- and the ASB building has gone missing below it. My theory is that an AFCAD that came with the Squirrel package may have caused it... anyone know what file to remove/modify and where it is located so I can fix this please?

Hi ya TRolly

It is the Squirel package that caused it and I had exactly the same problem - I just deleted the NZ23 Afcad and it went away. Incidentially I know this building very well as I worked in it for about 6 years - have also been on the helipad a few times

Cheers
