PPL=50 hours
CPL=200 hours

One you start your CPL you will obviously have 50 hours.
But does this mean that you have get another 200 hours for a CPL or 150 hours to bring your total to 200 hours?

Isn't it evident?? Boeing are my favourite aircraft.

P.S. that's is my real birthday but I wish to keep my real age secret to keep you all pondering.

I'm pretty sure it's 200 hours Total time. Have a look through this AC about CPLs.

This is the breakdown;

Minimum 100 hours Pilot in Command
10 hours night flying
10 hours instrument flying
30 hours commercial cross-country course

Which of course equals 150 hours, but its a minimum 200 hours as you cant do this until you have done your 50hrs minimum for your private licence.

Not actually true... there is no reason why you need to have a ppl before you do a cpl... having said that, trying to get a cpl in 150 hours would be next to impossible... as 100 hours PIC only leaves 50 hours for all the dual teaching...

also only some courses are approved to deliver the 150 hour course... and they all tell you that you should budget 200 hours...

I found out that a PPL costs on average $10,000 and a CPL $30,00 (usually around $27,000).
It is a total time of 200 hours and its around $40,000 to get your CPL and PPL

yes very true... I was confused by being able to do CPL exams for PPL... I was under the impression you could actually just go straight ahead and do a CPL...

It'll be more than that unless you don't do an instrument rating.

Have a look at the cost of learning at one of the NMIT places:
http://www.nmit.ac.nz/portal/tabID__3607/DesktopDefault.aspx

CPL Practical is 42000 (and will include your PPL) but there's also the 3800 for the theory, hour building if ya want to do it there, and C-cat if ya want, and ATPL subjects. That puts the cost well above $40k.
