PPL=50 hours
CPL=200 hours
One you start your CPL you will obviously have 50 hours.
But does this mean that you have get another 200 hours for a CPL or 150 hours to bring your total to 200 hours?

Minimum 100 hours Pilot in Command
10 hours night flying
10 hours instrument flying
30 hours commercial cross-country course
Which of course equals 150 hours, but its a minimum 200 hours as you cant do this until you have done your 50hrs minimum for your private licence.

Not actually true... there is no reason why you need to have a ppl before you do a cpl... having said that, trying to get a cpl in 150 hours would be next to impossible... as 100 hours PIC only leaves 50 hours for all the dual teaching...
also only some courses are approved to deliver the 150 hour course... and they all tell you that you should budget 200 hours...Last edited by HardCorePawn on Mon Dec 17, 2007 9:04 am, edited 1 time in total."Son, we are about the break the surly bonds of gravity, and punch the face of God." -- Homer Simpson

yes very true... I was confused by being able to do CPL exams for PPL... I was under the impression you could actually just go straight ahead and do a CPL..."Son, we are about the break the surly bonds of gravity, and punch the face of God." -- Homer Simpson

I thought they just changed that rule cause ASL want more money so they make you sit both PPL and CPL exams?
