Hopefully, fingers crossed, I'll be able to make it to Whitianga. Looks like it will be a very good show.

I dont think I can make Whitianga either unfortunately :(
Maybe something will change between now and then...
It does look like a pretty good line up though.

Cheers

One potential problem, as always, will be the weather, and unfortunately at the moment it's possibly not looking so good for the weekend. With luck that will change though, since forecasts for that far into the future aren't always overly accurate. Sadly I probably won't be able to make it after all, regardless of weather, but it seems like a lot of people here will be going so hopefully those of us not attending will have plenty of photos to see afterwards. :)

apparently the spit has been impounded at US customs and will not make any Airshow Apperances this year.

Just saw this at Wings Over Cambridge too. Fanbleedintastic. That's my airshow season ruined. Thanks, bureaucrats!

Well I guess since that TR.9 was practically new buildin the states, with the odd component thrown in to give it an identity , the yanks are afraid the top secret technology in this 'new' military machine may find its way into the wrong hands
Shame, still will be plenty to see at the show....

Impounded(or Held) at US Customs(Homeland Security) impouded goods yard at what ever port it is leaving from until the owner can convince them that he or she is not going to wage war on any country with their new spitfire(or until they can come up with state dept releases / paper work and go through all of the fine print 10 time over etc).

Outgoing? Which one would that be? BL628 has been gone for months, and the others in NZ are either under restoration already for owners or in museums!

Wage war? THE THING DOESN'T HAVE ANY GUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Called sarchasm, Homeland security seem to be overly silly in regards to warbird aircraft leaving the US - that to any lay person can obviously see has no way of being used in an agressive(drop bombs or shoot at anything due lack of guns hardpoints etc) manner. that is unless the pilot has lost the plot and taken up becoming a kamikaze.

I am quite familiar with sarcasm - if its the lowest form of wit, I'm shorter than an ant. ;)

Its just infuriating that a newly built TRAINER is considered a risk at all. I'm just sooo peeved at the lack of this machine in NZ at the mo. Won't be able to make Whiti. See those of you who are coming at Ohakea and hopefully Wanaka.

EDIT: Haha....perhaps they've seen Doug's aerobatic displays and thought "no sane person would do that"!

Got this email from the Warbirds team:
QUOTE
Hi Everyone,

...it is a no-brainer....the tropical cyclone coming our way has thwarted our fun, and for safety
and comfort, we are not heading over to WT.

The back up day is Sunday but we hadn't planned on that. A decision to go on Sunday is unlikely -
the weather system is not a very nice one.[/quote]
