Yeah, vodafone seems to be the Telstra of New Zealand!! sad.gif

The plans suck, Australia has atleast a bit better.

Still, happy with my crappy 2G iPhone smile.gif

BTW- $900 outright, are they crazy!! dry.gif

its funny. Vodafone said the iphone isnt for everybody (after it released its pricing) and on the other hand apple stated that the iphone 3g will be cheaper so more of the general public can get one.

Re Vodafone vs Telecom coverage, the company I work for went to Vodafone about 5 years ago as the coverage was better the Telecom ... and they probably got a sweet deal. My Vodafone gets better coverage than my kids' Telecoms in the BoP and Coromandel, it works fine down the coast to Gissy ok as well. I guess its those Mainlanders who live miles from any real civilisation that grumble about coverage .... dig / bait / nudge / wink / goodnight / god I'm typing like Ian W now arrghh .

And I hate blimmin cellphones, mine stays on silent when I'm not working, if someone wants me they will leave a message ... I'm certainly not one of those people who phone missed calls to see who they were and what they wanted ( we get a few a week at work .... the receptionist spends 10 minutes of her day at a time phoning all in the office to see who "phoned Mrs Smith" grrrrr)

hhhmmm sounds like a good thing to me ...and cheap just mite not hold 30-80gb of data on them yet but does just about the same things if you can except what has been around for years ,
just like the walkman sony you have done it again ... thumbup1.gif

my phones always on silent, and messages to me get replies when i see them. I would go crazy with my phone beeping away all the time. Its alright because where i live its never got reception anyway.

Telecom gets heaps better reception where i am (waikato). Vodafone gets good reception up to the main road, then it turns to custard. Our house being on a slight hill gets full reception at the window. ALthough not 3g. I dont get any 3g until i go 40km north to hamilton

Well the $6000 price being touted by the media is one of the higher-spec plans. Can get it for about $80 a month on a 24 month contract (paying about $550 for phone on that plan). So probably a few options out there, not just the $250 per month plan. laugh.gif

Alex

Yes but it's still pretty expensive.
Nothing compared to my $200 Tcom phone and $10 every now and then.

And what did you expect from the media? To headline the cheaper plan and then say but it gets worse?
That wouldn't be anywhere near as sensationalist and 'media-tastic'. winkyy.gif

Oh for sure - I wouldn't buy it, I already have a phone I bought earlier this year (necessitated by it's predecessors unfortunate trip through the washing machine...).

That's exactly what I'm saying - they're hyping it up. wink.gif

Beside the point, but I almost had to replace my phone this year, I dropped it in a glass of water laugh.gif
Didn't work properly for ages, but it seems to be fine now.

That's the jolly internet for you winkyy.gif and the media. Both of them are useless (with the obvious exception of NZFF of course)
My Samsung phone also has problems with custom ringtones though. My phone has trouble with just about anything though laugh.gif
