They bought an ATR sim about a year ago, so probably wouldn't have bothered with that unless they were sticking with ATR.
The new ATR looks nice![]()
Looking forward to the decision....
I have to agree with you
Your comment about the sim is good as they probably wouldn't have got it if they weren't staying ATR.Last edited by Daniel on Wed Jul 23, 2008 7:30 pm, edited 1 time in total.

The new ATR isn't even production yet

That looks like it might be Queenstown

'Twas just an excuse to post my composite 3-shot mosaic, yes, at Queenstown.

Was that not exactly what he just said?
I'm not going to pretend I know, or try and sound smart and guess

.. but the new ATR 72 600 has a completey different cockpit so they will need a new sim for the 600 variant - maybe thats an indication they will stay with the current fleet but that runs counter with the foreign aviation press - although maybe they willl hold onto the sim for training overseas pilots.Charl wrote:QUOTE (Charl @ Jul 23 2008, 06:31 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Meh what do I know darn regional airliners all look the same to me...

..you are partly right Charl - the 500 series is the latest version of the ATR - Air NZ rolled over the fleet about 7 years ago replacing the 200 series.

Mount Cook got a fixed base sim for training but I think they still send some people to Bangkok.
It is based at Christchurch airport i think.

Another Idea that I have had is could they just upgrade them to a 600?
They could put in the newer engines, give it a better flight deck and a few other things.
Air Nelson was thinking about upgrading their saabs when it came to replacing them.Last edited by Daniel on Thu Jul 24, 2008 7:24 am, edited 1 time in total.
