Sure. Whats wrong with that ?

Every operator I know of, terminates once they're on the ground at uncontrolled aerodromes, incase of an over-run or something.

Really ? what operators are they ???
I cant think of any off the top of my head who make that a dead set rule, apart from 1 or 2 clubs etc on training flights etc...
Most operators/pilots I know would use a bitta good ol fashioned practical common sense on such matters...

Even so, if that were to happen the wreckage would be long cleared and probably scraped by the time atc clued onto the fact.

Anyways, the reason being is there is no radio reception on the ground there which is also why we dont get a clearance until we are airborn on departure,- unless it is an IMC day where by we would get by phone before departure. (or terminate by phone) thumbup1.gif

Really? I had no idea Air West Coast was closing down. I heard not long ago that the guys that run it are pretty seriously religious- is that true?

I used to terminate heading in to the Ardmore MBZ... one less thing to worry about/forget... But now I have made it part of my after landing checks because I discovered I can still get Chch Info while on the ground smile.gif

But you try reaching them from a place like Te Kuiti... I had to get up to like 2500' before I could raise them! Luckily I had allowed enough time that I was able to get back airbourne and amend my SARTIME before it expired! ninja.gif

and yes... that lass from Canterbury Aero sounds quite pleasant....
