you guys have motivated me to get back into my remaining ATPL subjects! And with weather like below I've got bugger all else to do today. There'sonly so much crappy instant coffee I can drink too...

Well, if I can self study and (hopefully) pass them... then anyone should be able to!

I went through school when they used to actually teach you things and you could actually fail (oh no, not the naughty f word!), so I cannot comment on how it compares to NCEA... the general format seems to be multi-guess... where you get like 4 options... 2 are usually obviously wrong... and 2 seem to be right...

as pointed out... you need to read the question... and then read it again... and then read it a 3rd time... then read the answers and be very careful on how they have been worded... as I pointed out, words like "should" and "must", or "includes XXXX" and "only means XXXX" can be the difference between the correct answer and an "almost" correct answer...

Lots of people have told me that ASL Exams only test your ability to pass ASL Exams... not your knowledge of the subject!!

Perhaps a little harsh, as you do have to know something about the subject, but exam technique is very important...

I am now (not very) patiently waiting the 7 working days for my results... kinda wish I had paid for priority marking now... it is going to ruin my weekend waiting for those %#$@~! results!

Ha, yer, I had the same thing happen to me in PPL Law, I updated the AIP VOL 4 a day before going into the exam (it was due), which turned out to be a really bad idea, because it turns out, a question was asked about something that had just been transferred to VOL 1 in that previous ammendment (I knew this in the exam because i remembered removing it)

But of course, i gave the question a guess, and as luck would have it, i even got it right.....although i got quite a few others wrong

and just scraped through... Bring on CPL exams

ASL are s**t.

Had a question on oxygen in my IFR Law exam, and theres no references to oxygen at all in the syllabus!

Because its law, it will refer to part 91...... and oxygen is in part 91

It still has to be in the syllabus, or how are they going to put it on a KDR?

KDR's? Don't get me started on KDR's! Nothing worse than a bunch of students pestering you to sign off their KDR's the day before their flight test! Although I do manage to get quiet a few free coffees and assorted confectionary if I say yes.......

Have you got the exact question and answers they gave, ASL could have been putting up smoke and mirrors to trick young punters (as they do). When I teach IFR law, Ive always mentioned oxygen again.
