The CS Herc is fantastic. 9 out of 10. The -1 point for not including the RNZAF paint. New_Zealand_etc.gif

Still no word from Dax , probs with older 2004 paint ? , I could send thru the cfg file , your just required to place Davids texture.

Jeeze the Sim community know's a bargain when they see one huh? I've been holding out for the C130 for awhile, and the freight operation options of the 757 were very appealing, plus the 727 is just the coolest looking (and sounding) airliner on the planet if you ask me, so what's a man to do? ... stuff it... I bought all three !!! Yippee drool.gif

Now all I gotta do is keep the credit-card statement away from the missus ninja.gif

Thanks Ian. That would be good. Where would I find Davids textures? Cheers. Just loaded the 757. A bit heavy on the frames but looks amazing in flight and sooo much to learn.Have to do a bit more reading I thnk. tongue.gif

Yeah, its folks like Trolly and you vouching for vendors like this that makes purchasing so much more of a pleasure tho. thumbup1.gif

BTW, if anyone else is still thinkin of taking up the deal before it closes (some hours away yet) and are specifically interested in the 757 but have been put off it by complaints on the Net about hit on frame-rate, I just did a very unscientific test in the 757 buzzing about NZAA. I have my sim (FS9) with sliders all set to the right for every setting, including water effects, and have a full compliment of AI aircraft, traffic set to 100% which meant at the time 40 aircraft on ground in NZAA and a number approaching in air.

Here are some stats for various phases of flight in, out and over NZAA using each of the Spot view, 2D panel view, and VC (with framerate locked to 40fps). Yes there is some hit especially in the VC view, but it seems tolerable in the 2D panel, of course somewhere like KLAX might be a different story dry.gif

taxiing on ground:
  • 20-30fps
departing NZAA heading west (ie mostly scenery + water effects)
  • spot: 28-40fps
  • 2D : 25-40fps
  • VC : 21-40fps
approaching NZAA from West, near West point (scenery, water + distant autogen and AI)
  • spot: 24-40fps
  • 2D : 22-30fps
  • VC : 16-24fps
flyover within a mile radius of NZAA (scenery, water + detailed autogen and AI)
  • spot: 20-30fps
  • 2D : 15-25fps
  • VC : 12-20fps
My machine is probably middle-of-the-road as far as gaming machines go, I know there are lots of folks here with boxes that would put mine to shame, but there are no doubt others with lesser specs too, so your mileage may vary, anyway here are my specs so you can put the above figures into some proportion:
  • 3GHz E8400 Core2Duo
  • 2GB DDR2 800Mhz RAM
  • NVidia GeForce 9600GT video
  • FS9 running under WindowsXP
  • Auckland2005 scenery
    + Christians 20m mesh
    + roads-n-rivers pack
Edit: I just did some touch-n-goes at JFK and LAX, and I have pretty much every WOAI or PAI package installed that has a presence at those airports including freighters and even the wee regional/feeder airlines, and the VC rate did dip down into the mid-low-teens, but it wasnt too irritating and not much worse than my NZAA experiment. I hope this info is useful, please dont go complaining to me if you're performance isnt what you were expecting, there are a lot of variables at play thumbup1.gif

Dino , how much onbourd RAM with a NVidia GeForce 9600GT video card ? , ..another stick off RAM , MAX it for XP ,you will see a difference winkyy.gif thats a brilliant graph to point out frame rates

512MB on the card. Thanx for the RAM suggestion, its so cheap at the moment that yes I think I will do that

Re the graphing of data etc, there's a real hole in the FSim graphics card testing area dont you think? Plenty of sites have shoot-em-up and driver sims tests but there arent many dedicated FSim tests of new cards or benchmarking other than the TomsHardware one. And what tests there are usually just pit one card against another, or maybe provide a single FPS rating. I realise there are lots of variables w FSim, and each version has it peculiar bottle-necks and dependencies, and that you would have to have a significant range of hardware avail to do the testing, but it would be great if the global FSim community could get together and organise some sort of benchmarking database.

good idea for the simmers to gauge and get some idea how to spend their dollars , scary part is how take a measure . In default settings would show fine , then to add REX for example then add another , then for both sims , ideally , but to see how its affected on the same system .

This thread is already splitting up a bit ... I've posted a couple of pics of the CS Herc with an FS9 RNZAF repaint working in FSX: here.

Haven't had so much fun with my clothes on for ages!

Still waiting to download the C130.
Contacted 2checkout help, they have responded immediately saying they have contacted capt. Sim and they will send through the download details.
Lets hope it is before they shut up shop!

Anyway still have the 757 and it is up and running.
Looks impressive too. no chance yet to fly (10 and 6 yr old in need of fatherly attention)

Might get a chance tonight.

Ian, have another new mic and this one works (Yeah)

Will catch up for a chat later.

Cheers
