Read and report on flightsim developers progress of upcoming or completed products

Oh gutted! I want to learn how to do it now.
I want to be able to fly over the places I tramp to have a look at the terrain from the air.

Actually, it's FS2002 professional I've got.

Hi Greg,

Just checking progress on your great thumbup1.gif Whangarei scenery. Have you finished it yet? I live in Onerahi and can see the airport from my study while flying FSX. I sure would love to have your work on my monitors as well as out the window.

Cheers
Roger

This I cannot say right now as I have been suffering through alot of health issues for a while ,,, I would love to have it complete for all you guys pending councill permmmision,,, but I did get to a point where it was entirely suitable for the council GIS dept to see its completness without full water masking and blending which I admit has got me stuck and pending on permissions I would like to ask for other NZ scenery developers for help or to take on the water mask and blending as the coastline suits a very gradual transition to deep sea in many places due to its estuary's and inlets which photographicaly really show the place of it is a very irregular coastline up here and I have tendencys for getting it perfect which may be my own personal obstacle to getting it done.
So if I get permission to release what i have done so far to someone that could take it further in the water mask blend area whilst retaining the interesting tidal estuarys and inlets underlying imagery but still have it water landable as I know can be done. I would like to hear from any who have those skills finely honed. It certainly is a large land and tidal area available but I need help if its to be completed fully. My perfectionistic attitude is a stumbling block to completing it as well as some significant long term health issues so if you know what your doing and I get the go ahead from Council I would lke to hear from anyone interested in helping or taking it over for the water mask stuff

I know that I have given no info for a long time and the largness of it alll was getting to me but I still have a desire to see it finished and released
I dont know if it will be freeware or not as I would need to talk with other developers about how they manage these issues. If it was strictly up to me I would release it as freeware since most of the hobby i have enjoyed the nice additions have come from a signifigant contribution of freeware developers and a few paywares

kinds thoughts to all

Greg- I can give you full instructions on how to complete this in an ArcGIS environment (which you guys use if my memory is correct?)- It is simply a case of digitizing the water areas (I find using stream digitizing the quickest) and then using this polygon to create internal buffers in order to create the blend mask. Then re project the data frame into WGS84 (the images will need to have their projection defined first) and export a series of images for each tile: 1) Image 2) Water mask and 3) Blend mask.

Then amalgamate all the images using a single .inf file.

Hi Greg,
thanks for the swift update. People like you who put so much time and effort into creating scenery and aircraft are, in my opinion, the unsung heros of the flightsim world. And should never think that they are in anyway taken for granted by those of us who would not have a clue where to start in undertaking such an endever. You all add so much enjoyment to our adiction.

Sorry to hear of your health problems, take care. I trust you will come right in the near future.

Regards
Roger
