FSX North Pole

Ok pilots who fancys a flight in the harsh Artic North Pole??? Looks are deceiving. At my landing it was a blustery 75mph with temps around -75F. Ah my kinda weather a vaction away from the tropics. Anyone got Coffee?? Next the South Pole outa Christchurch with my special USCG herky and NH-90.

That would interesting for us young ones to see and react in FSX. Do you have any reference on this mission for flight planning? This would be a great opertunity for a challenge and learning.

This is what I do not like about FSX. That North Pole shot looks like a kids Lego set up (no disrespect intended towards the poster). A shiny plastic look and not natural at all.
Remember the 50-50-90 rule. Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong!

Well I will find out three times this coming year what the North Pole looks like again after two years absence. The Canadian Airforce has me scheduled for three sorties up there to assit with medical missions. I'm hoping to be allowed to bring my camera so i can take pictures and share the experiance. Ive been to the North Pole twice and i can tell you its milder compared to the South Pole. At least there was a scenery designer who spruced up the North Pole a bit. I'd love to see what creator2003 could do with the North Pole. Ah here is live pic from McMurdo Station south of you gents. I'm collecting data on this area for a possible project.

That is nothing to do with the sim and everything to do with the quality of the models being used.....if the modeller set up their textures with the parameters for 'shiny and plasticky' then that is exactly what with the sim will render.

Excellent Point Timmo, Also in reality the north is a totle different climate then the South. South has more land features and breaks. Up in the north most if not all is flat. A White Hurricane up here without the proper survival gear will kill you in just seconds. At least in the south they have volcano's, mountains, hills. Those features alone can save your rump with now a days equipment compared to the past. just make sure you pay attention in safety class to the subject of Avalanche.

I am going to take a real cheep shot here , Erebus .. not so far from the date line TE901 around 8.15 am 28th November , safety is only in the minds who may have some influence on a cover up , we have all been through this , we all read , but in 1979 , .......... Today i wonder , 'TVACGCEO' , .. I have a FS DC10 , today we can recreate the errors and build a true idea , we can create the weather , there were a few questions why McMurdo did not mention the flight path .. but to prove a point the next year 1979 , had a C141 return from the ice crash landing at NZCH , comms went through ...... dont matter , point is , 30 years later , with the DATA , can we build the same 'senerio' .. flightplan ... create and learn .

Very Good point, im looking up the info to due a sim flight of the 79 incident. Yes we do have the tech now a days to recreate and see what went on and what might have been going thru the minds leading to the final seconds. Its one reason why i like Fs, to recreate a historical event or incident mystery. I was thinkin from the ground safety wise, now the air part in the South im just learning and reading into. South is more dangerous then the North for sure.
