The system doesn't work either. I remember the last year I was in school, I got so sick and was probably only there for 1/4 of it, done about 3 tests. Now at the end of the year when I got my results, I was surprised as any that I was marked as passing the classes. I passed the tests I done sure enough, but whats to say if I was there the whole year that I failed every other one? I got the certificate/letter saying that I passed, but no where on it did it say that they had to mark me on a single test. So really, if I was the sort of person, I could go to a job interview, tell them I passed that year and know about 'X' subject, when really I wouldn't know squat about it. Where's the fairness in that when you have someone else applying for the same job, who did all the tests and passed and got 90% on their end of year cert, because they had to be marked on all their tests. Whereas I would only have been marked on 2 or 3, got 100% on all 3 and that's what would end up on my end of year cert?
I get what 2fst4u is saying about the people who don't stick around. I found it incredibly hard to learn things with book work, and a lot of the time it was only in my head for that day. But put me in a situation where it's hands on and I only need to be shown once what to do, and it's in my head forever.
