C47 Retiring

I was fortunate to catch one of the last flights on ZK-AMY before it goes into retirement, when it visited Wanaka this week.
This is the last operational one in the south Island.
I would add some pic's if I knew how.

Ive been on AMY many times , thrice in the Jumpseat , the first couple was when she flew cargo , another out off Wanaka , ... AMS was my last ride on a Dak again in the Jumpseat again out off Wanaka , Alister Johnson at the helm and Dave the copilot , mention this before , but the way they studied the sky , checked the map and decided the best way around a front .. the DC3

I no Dave , Dave Horsburgh very well , the Dak gets over Christchurch very regular , i am hoping this is not simply a rumour !

They gave a speech before we got onboard & it sounded fairly definite.

just because it hs been gifted to AAM does not mean its retiring thats old news. what did they say in the speech, was it dave?

Hmmm I don't know about that. I've recently started flying the darn thing and and no body has mentioned any retirement to me. Unless it's a very sudden thing, which could happen I guess, but I sure hope not
