Overclocking new record

The place to ask for help or solve each others technical issues and discuss hardware

I read that somebody has overclocked a 3.06GHz Intel Celeron D 347 processor up to 8.19Ghz, using liquid nitrogen as the cooler.

More details here if you want to try it yourself.....

And you thought that 4Ghz was good!

Smooth landings.

I think you mean 3.06Ghz, and 8.19Ghz.

8.0Mhz was slow in the 90's tongue.gif

I have a celeron 3.3, should be able to get it up to 8.5 then. (Last time I tried overclocking my computer it exploded and a puff of smoke came out the back, so might give it a miss this time)

the only fun failure ive seen on a pc was the power supply . shower of sparks out the back. looked a bit like an afterburner too. cant say any of the other components ive seen fail were fun, more oh god wheres the door.

the 8.1*ghz OC is all very well for breaking records but i certainly would prefer a stock clock speed for longevity reasons alone but the thought of having to top up your cooling rig every few hours is enough for me to leave it to the pros .not that id be able toget the cpu running above 5ghz in the first place smile.gif
