Alister , Everything is very quite , best described like a Christmas day afternoon , with power back on , i have invited people who on the norm require internet access to use from here , lot simply are students down the back( my block of flats) from everywhere to give them chance to mail/contact to home , only thing i can offer .
Strange after the September Quake , the day was very very calm , no wind - bright blue sky , sort off very comfortable , currently appear,s to be the same but this time a gloomy day , Sirens have stopped , the day has been put on hold feeling . The city , not going their , plenty on the News
Al , Lyttleton , the town center is 60 per gone from what Rob said to me .Last edited by Ian Warren on Wed Feb 23, 2011 12:14 pm, edited 1 time in total.

I'm saddened that my dearly loved city is getting pulled apart, but glad that the spirit is fighting on. I feel for the families that may of not only lost homes, but loved ones. Sending all my thoughts through to you all.
Beverley's 'checked in' on Facebook.
The power has just come back on here, I was going to leave town but having electricity makes a lot of difference, so I'll stay. I've only just seen the tv coverage, it is beyond horrible. It makes the earlier quake a walk in the park.

There are also a couple of hundred missing but that could be as innocuous as they've shot through to stay with friends outside Christchurch without saying goodbye or they're safe in a camp somewhere but have no cellphone battery left ...
bad news. In german news they talking about 125 RIP´s now. Hope this was the last big quake.Last edited by HueyTeam on Sat Feb 26, 2011 4:33 am, edited 1 time in total.----------------------------------------------

is there any way to make a donation from here (Germany) to support the victims?

Hi Sandman,
I donated through the British Red Cross here in the UK. I expect the German Red Cross will be doing something similar.
Hope that helps,

I spend eleven months of the year in the UK and one in NZ. I'm hoping to improve that... ;-)
