PMDG 737NGX released!

Interesting to see this on the the AVSIM front page:

Flight1 and iFly have produced the most sophisticated and comprehensive 737NG add-on aircraft to date for FSX.

It sort of appeared just days after the PMDG release. They may have to eat humble pie.

Is there anyone with the CS 767 as well as this? if so how does it compare in relation to frame rates??

You should be fine , CS727/75/76 are from earlier generation they work like rocket fuel , PMDG 73 is more the operation systems and Dang ..they are good .

My system is pretty middle of the road and i'm getting good 15-20fps on the ground at RealNz Wellington with high detail settings and a lot better in the air. It actually performs a lot better then the Jetstream and is very smooth. There are quite a few tweaks you can do to the plane to grab a few extra frames such as turning off the copilots displays and in the introduction guide PMDG recommend several graphics settings and FSX.CFG tweaks to further improve things.

Its also setup so that you can jump in and firewall the throttles without programming the FMC or fiddling with settings if you don't want to. You can choose panel "states" to setup the cockpit as cold and dark, ready to fly or with either a short or long preflight before you're ready. So if you want to be airbourne in 30 seconds or spend 30 minutes prepping everything from scratch the choice is yours.

A few things that have really struck me so far:

The heads up guidance display opens up a whole new world of IFR flying without looking down at the displays, I did a few approaches to NZWN earlier on with 30Kt crosswinds and flying a difficult approach becomes so much easier with the HUGs.

Wing flex is very nice and realistic. The wing and passenger views add to the realism.

Strobe lights reflect off the tarmac and in combination with new landing light effects really contribute to the night lighting being the best i've seen.

Head movement in the cockpit during turbulance is simulated really well

Failures such as fires or overheats are very well simulated and the more you fly each aircraft the more wear and tear you generate increasing the likelihood of failures (you can turn all this off if you want)

The advanced GPWS with a ground map looks excellent and makes for easier flying around mountain areas. Looking forward to shooting the RNAV approach for NZQN with this

The sound package is amazing. Pumps, systems, air con, fans, every switch and knob has its own realistic sound. The APU and engine sounds are spot on.

It really is enjoyable to hand fly and not touch any of the automation if you wish.

Buy it.

Well to be fair to the iFly guys that's their standard type which flight1 have had on their site for some time, and it certainly was true up until yesterday

Humble pie ....maybe...but i think it comes down to what you want, for me the iFLY 73 is just right.....i hate to get into this.."this vs that " stuff....if you like it, who cares. I do agree that PMDG have set a benchmark with this package, but its not for everyone. Im a great fan of Vertigo ....but i think their Avenger fell short of the mark....but thats just me...KC and Ian love it....which is great....i dont.

Marty you do no there is a patch for , primary fix was that gunner rotating without a gunner in it , maybe they will return and replace the extra crew members .

Back to the 737 , with all the screens above , little mention off the switch,s , many extra options like fuel load and watching fuel use , 6000kg at NZHN - NZWN FL250 , getting to 25000ft fuel was 3100kg
landing at with 1780 kg , it was more a dogleg flight , well worth $81NZ

Has anyone got the Steve Hall NZQN RNAV approachs working in the NGX? I uploaded them into the same location as all my other PMDG AIRAC data, but they dont show up in the NGX. Any ideas? Anyone got it going?

my 20 dollar piper super cub can do that ohh hang on the default beaver does that too.......

I have too much heavy metal parked in the mothball hanger already, tubes just bore me so this for me would just be another... Nice aircraft all the same.

Wo Ian!!!, what were you carrying there, 30ton of gold bullion?
Seriously, that fuel burn is WAY too high, which particular model NG was it? Did you set the engine rating or cost index to anything in particular?

Yeah so do I , just recent brought the Aerosoft A320 , very disappointed , The PMDG 747 is still a bloody bute after four years in the FSX operations , like you I have the Ian Warren Graveyard - hanger is just to small , the A320 has already been earmarked for scrap ,I,ve off got VC10s to DC-10s , ATR,s to Beech,s to Concorde , 727s , 707s and even the old Ready for Pushback for FS2002 when released was the one to have to have , this company released as a freeware and works find in FS9 .

This one tho .. Oh Boy this one is in a class off its own , the cockpit artwork is to the extreme , switch,s and knob s so well modeled and they function . be while before this one will knocked off it pedastal and that be more likely the PMDG Dash8 .
