Spelling never was my strong point either.
Don't use the spell checker Ian uses, I don't think it works......... nah who cares about spelling, only idiots that have nothing better to do.
On the other matter about Flight. It's freemium for the base package so lets wait and see, It's gonna cost nothing to find out what its like. As for paying for aircraft and areas well don't we do that now? Heck just for New Zealand in FSX I have paid out 5 times just for the base. "Roads and Rivers, Mountains of NZ, FScene, VLC, FTX" and a sixth time coming up for NZNI when it is released wow in excess of $200 just for mesh and land class's.
If the base platform works out I can see the business model with in house QC being a big plus, I don't know about others but I am sick to death of paying 40-50 Euros for an addon that is F*&^%g cr@p and devs that don't give a sht.
If Flight is good I will support it, if not it has cost me nothing to find out. win, win.Regards always

I hate to say it but MS are going down that market share path of, If you want more you gonna have to pay for it with MS Flight. I still don't think it will fly. There's a certain type that get into Flight Sims and it isnt the kids of today (trying to make a game of it won't work) it's the older generation of yesterday. I am one of which will not pay MS for X amount of land just to fly to and land on. I'll stick with FSX even though its CPU load bearing rather than GPU which it should be.

Hey Deek,
Must have been the same thread I was reading. I must admit it did bring a sense of reprieve. Looks like we may just be leaving Microsoft in their own poop and bidding for another vendor. Sounds like Lockheed have some code techies to sort the "warts" out with FSX and bring the platform back from its crippledome.
Quote form John Venema (ORBX CEO)
"MS don't know what they have in the FSX engine source code, or they would not have licensed it to LM. It is by far the most capable and impressive 3D far-horizon engine ever coded - bar none. Nothing, even in 2012 comes close to the number of pixels and terrain the FSX engine can push at a locked 60Hz. Problem is, the code needs a little loving and MS won't fund that. So good thing we have a dev team at LM who are doing just that. Can't wait for that engine to be running close to the metal and off the CPU and onto the GPU. Yes, that's coming and it will rock.
As for making our own engine? Been there, done that, talked to a bunch of suppliers. Again, nothing comes close to the FSX core code, it's that good. There is a reason why code from 26 years ago was retained. It would cost us about $30 million to start from scratch, maybe more. Better to just make content for an engine that is working and being developed forward. "--------------------------------------

Of course a CEO of a company is not going to recommend you go away from a platform that they can make money from. Personally I hold what JV says with a grain of salt atm considering his opinion is base on the fact that he cant get his hands into the MS Flight cookie jar.
In saying that yes I am open minded about the whole thing to the point of I am buying Prepar3D. I do like the idea of where LH is heading with passing off a lot CPU cycles to the GPU, DX12, that is exciting stuff.Last edited by Rotordude on Fri Jan 06, 2012 12:43 am, edited 1 time in total.Regards always

He has 2 other videos of the beta as well. lol
Looks like someone is going to be in trouble.
Seems like this beta tester will be dragged over the coals. He may even be quite peed off about Flight as well, nevertheless I really don't see what damage this will do (with regard to pulling the enthusiasts back in), after looking at that i'm in no hurry to dedicate time into this one. definitely ARCADE without a doubt. it's even a little jerky with the micro stutters and the environmental ambiance does not look like what i was hoping for. Shade can do this in FSX, just without the shadows. But I'm happy with FSX after seeing this. what a shame though.Last edited by Kelvinr on Fri Jan 06, 2012 9:57 am, edited 1 time in total.--------------------------------------

ha video ( not surprisingly) is removed
with the DX-10 64bit side of FSX so hardly touched on ,there is almost two sims in one ...like FS9, FSX, and FSX64bit its a side of the sim that has had bugger all made for it (at least addons that make full use of it) I know I for one cannot run it yet as I dont have a good enough card, processing power or a 64bit capable PC so once I have a new PC capable of handling it I will have a whole new sim to explore. I am fairly certain that I am one of many that are in the same boat so FSX's longevity is pretty much assured for a loooong time yet
