Oh well dosen't seem I'm missing much!

Tried to install it three times -- I give up - it just freezes on the sart up screen and slows my PC to a crawl

Go to support page and says I have a problem (no bloody kidding!)

..and this gibberish - great help that was dots.gif

Uh oh... that shouldn't have happened. It appears you've found a glitch in the system.

But what we think doesn't really matter in terms of Flight. It's not supposed to be a sim, it's supposed to be a game that will enable ms to have lots of dlc dollars rolling in, and casual gamers will buy it. Don't underestimate the casual gamer market, it's HUGE. We're not.

To reiterate what Robert Randazzo said about Flight in the PMDG forum, "Let's just get something right out on the table: If you are reading this, then you are not likely to be the target audience for FLIGHT".
The above post is in the public domain and is guaranteed by the manufacturer to contain no references to anything illegal or discussion of piracy, although this signature may contain traces of nuts.

I was a beta tester and I got so annoyed with Flight - there is more or less nothing to the game - I found it very hard to keep interested. The deal breaker for me - what kind of flight game doesn't have a jet?

I know how you feel Naki. I can't play the game either... hopefully will be fixed soon. Back to FSX!

Just installed it and now it asks me for a product key. Product key for a free game? lol

Downloaded it from here: http://www.microsoft.com/games/flight/#news-flight_launch

For those who are getting asked for a key when they try to download, here is a workaround:

Because Microsoft Flight is Free-to-Play when you sign-into LIVE for the first time through Flight a product key should be auto assigned to you. However we have noticed that some users are not getting their key auto assigned and are seeing a message asking them to enter a valid product key for the game. Here are some steps to take if you run into this issue:

1. Close down Flight
2. Re-launch the game
3. Attempt to sign-in again

If there is a 5x5 key already entered into the product key window just click ‘I accept’ and then the ‘Submit’ button. This should log you in. If that still does not give you a valid product key do the following to manually retrieve a key:

1. Go to http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/...15-d8044d5308d2
2. Click the ‘Buy Game FREE’ button
3. Select ‘Confirm Purchase’ (this is a free transaction and won’t cost anything)
4. Open up the Games for Windows Marketplace Client on your PC (found under Start->All programs->Games for Windows Marketplace)
5. Sign into the Marketplace Client with your GFWL / Xbox LIVE account
6. Click the ‘Downloads’ tab
7. Click ‘Microsoft Flight’ from the list
8. Click ‘View Game Keys’
9. Copy the ‘LIVE Access Code’
10. Open Flight
11. Sign-in again
12. If still asked for a Product Code, enter the LIVE Access Code you copied in step 9
13. Click ‘I accept’ and ‘Submit’

That's happening to me. Nothing is working, even those instructions posted.

Sorry to be the odd one out here, but got it to run first time. Flew for about 2 hours last night, going through all the training and free flights.

First impressions, is that it is a bit simplistic to fly, but from a processing point of view got very good frame rates even at the high settings. Integration with the joystick was easy, as the mouse flying is a cludgy.

If this is Microsoft's initial step to get Flight Simulator back on track, then I'm extremely happy as this application has heaps of potential.

PS Pays to download the User Guide and Keyboard shortcuts from the support website.

I got bored with the beta, and forgot I had it for a while, but I've downloaded the finished version. It certainly doesn't appeal to me as it is, but there are some nice features. When you look at it from the point of view of a completely new user, who downloads it because it is free, then it has a lot to offer. I've read some posts on other forum which discount these users as easily bored, shoot-em-up kiddies, who will give up on Flight real quick, but I don't see it that way. They are used to 'fantasy' games, but that's only because that's what is on offer in the 'freemium' market. They might actually like the realism, and get off on the fact that they can actually fly!

Looking at the intro through to the initial training flights, it is a beautiful experience, with a lot to offer casual gamers. They won't even think about the lack of some features, after all they don't complain that there's no ATC in Angry Birds.

I'd definitely recommend it to anyone except hard-core simmers. And maybe one day with enough interest there'll be a 'pro' version for us.

P.S. This may change the way I sim on a fundamental level -- for instance, I never speed up my sim to skip the boring bits, so I would never press N to skip to a waypoint. Well, that was until I was tortured by that woman playing the ukelele, then I was happy to reach for the N key!

It installed fine on my old P.O.S PC and actually plays ok too. I agree with all that Rob says, for a free flight simulator it is what it is. We are not the target audience, but that audience is out there and who knows, may become "one of us" as a result of this release...

I think the game model will go along the lines of http://combatarms.nexon.net/ with a microsoft touch ,with a bit of research i found out the CEO director used to work at Nexon America which has a price on everything and started out a little like Flight has in a way ,ive been playing CombatArms now for about 3 years and give them at least $20 upgrading my rental guns monthly ,wait till you can also rent planes etc for a period of days/weeks instead of out right buying them full price ,i guess we will see over time how it expands .

WOW nice vid. I thought Flight is actually not that bad in it's own way.Yes, it feels empty and incomplete but I do think if given the chance and a bit more time it actually might be a nice complement to the last great Flight Simulator FSX.

It's good for people who've never been into FS before. My younger brother showed signs of interest in this that he's never shown in FSX.

likewise with the beta It ended up as another desktop icon ,perhaps I'm used to what I have which is great. More so my AST/Baron simulator is not designed for the missions in the beta testing. The positive is it will get more young people into flight simulating which = more future designers with future technology's "can't wait"
