Thanks guys. Indeed it is a great plane, and a very suitable 'other' 737 in place of a PMDG for FSX, and I believe nothing better in FS2004 for the 737 NG series.
For FSX Charl they certainly are competing in the same marketplace.
This would be my judgement, based on user reviews, and screenshots (of the PMDG), and my own experience with ifly FSX.
In FSX, there is nothing like the PMDG NGX ever released before it. It's groundbreaking PC technology with all the good bits included that you could possibly wish for. Plus it's extremely detailed visually at the same time. Ifly still looks great, but the PMDG takes it above and beyond what has been seen in FSX before I believe. Certainly so in the 737 series. And to be honest, the PMDG is probably likely to be programmed a bit better. I think you could safely say it would win in almost any test between it and the ifly.
Ifly however does has a couple of areas I think it would win.
Price (bound to be cheaper)
Models (600,700,700ER,800,900,900ER,BBJ1,BBJ2,BBJ3) - all included in the one pack/ one price.
Performance is probably better on older machine (I can actually run it ok on FSX on my dated PC). We'd all agree PMDG requires a newer generation of PC, (and a 64bit operating system if possible)
So in summary, someone on an older computer, I would recommend the ifly, newer pc, the PMDG.
I would rate my ifly 9 out of 10, and I bet if I ever get the PMDG, I would rate it 11 or 12 out of 10.
I really love the ifly, and not unhappy with it in the slightest. But I am honest enough to concede that I think the PMDG is a better plane, but one that isn't suited to me or my situation
