KCGB,
I have solved the issue. I will be available this evening if you need to get it sorted. ( Procedure on REXE support forum.)
PM if you want to discuss how.
Kelvinr wrote:QUOTE (Kelvinr @ May 29 2012,9:14 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>@dart15 that is completely strange as none of the testers had reported this issue during testing. I would address this in the Support Forum if able.
Resolved: must have been a corrupt update file. I ended up completely uninstalling REX 2 and d/l and installing Rex Essential.Dart 15![]()

Rob .... Wobblyville , and a ride in my RPC's just a few minutes back proves the weather is at a loss today ....... this time the birds really are walking

Is it definitely loading (in real time)?
I've found that the old REX weather engine grabbed its data pretty quickly, but with REXE it takes over 5mins for it to set itself up before you can even launch the first flight. After that, the updates seem as before.Last edited by Adamski on Wed Jun 06, 2012 6:16 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Ummm ... is that just the anti-virus component of AVAST or the firewall part (or both). I much prefer it when a/v does just that - and the firewall does just that. Hate it when they "mix and match".
It could be why mine is so slow in starting up.

Not sure whether to post here and/or the REXE forum. I'm having a major problem on startup.
On a fresh reboot, it took REXE ELEVEN minutes from start to finish, before I could launch FSX. I'm wondering whether it was interpolating data *for the whole world* (gasp!!) ... and that maybe it's better to start FSX at some (NZ) location ... *then* launch REXE <???>.
I'll try again, with a/v and firewall temporarily off to see whether it's any better.

tried with it on and off
didnt do anything
@Kc have you sorted this yet? If not can you let me know what weather engine settings you are using? One other thing is that we found during testing on at least one occasion that Vatsim was undergoing some maintenance so the data was not available at the time. We don't often hear when the data is not available but that's not to say this is the issue.
Could you also let me know how far the wind speed/directions deviates from the real world that you are checking against? There may be a significant deviation at times but other times (more often than not at least for me testing) it would be extremely close by about 10-15 knots wind speed and 10-20 degrees wind direction.Ian Warren wrote:QUOTE (Ian Warren @ Jun 6 2012,8:35 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Kelvin , best i better finally D/load the program tonight .. ill check even were the Chickens don't check
Sounds good Ian. Hope you enjoy. Let us know if your having any problems.AndrewJamez wrote:QUOTE (AndrewJamez @ Jun 6 2012,4:00 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Has anyone been able to bet reasonably acccuarte local weather in essentials?? What weather engine settings are you using? Are you using Vatsim or NOAA? Make sure you also set wind smoothing to off for both wind smoothing and hyper wind smoothing. I did a number of test flights at Hamilton during Beta which returned quite accurate weather. What real data are you checking against or you just looking out the window? I would check against the data first and then make a visual check as Essentials can make sacrifices based on the settings you choose.--------------------------------------

Yeah, something is definitely wrong with NZ today.

I'm not sure what you are meaning, can you elaborate on your issue by noting the settings you are using in Essential?
By the way guys, I have raised the reported incompleteness of the Vatsim data to the REX team who will see if anything is not looking as it should be. One thing Essential does is it really only reads data from Vatsim so this does seem a little strange that Vatsim is missing stations. Anyway, hopefully will have a response soon.--------------------------------------
toprob wrote:QUOTE (toprob @ Jun 7 2012,12:47 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>My settings are pretty default -- Vatsim unselected. When I wait until the weather loads, click on 'weather', real weather, I type in any NZ station (NZAA, NZCH, NZWN) it gives me an empty 'nearby weather stations' box. It was working fine yesterday. YSSY works fine.
Hmm, interesting. I try all 3 of those ICAOs and seem to get weather stations showing. What do your weather interpolating settings read? I am using More Accurate/ Less Stations try that and see how you go. Also, try using Vatsim and see what results you get. If Essential is not finding the weather stations it may be to do with Vatsim or NOAA data itself. Essential is only supposed to be reading/interpreting the data, and, as far as I know it is not manipulating that data.I have been able to replicate your issue as well...
Make sure you have weather data overwrite enabled if it is not.
EDIT:
Looks like NOAA has 94 weather stations and VATSIM has 85 for New Zealand. This is regardless of the interpolating setting used.
Can you try searching ICAO using just "NZ" and click search to see what stations show at all. Then sort by country by clicking on the column heading. I can see at this stage it looks like NOAA is not showing the desired weather stations. I'll go mention this to the team.Last edited by Kelvinr on Thu Jun 07, 2012 2:47 pm, edited 1 time in total.--------------------------------------
