Very cool.
Remember the 50-50-90 rule. Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong!

The entire Stage-II release seems to be out now including VC, looks pretty close to being complete, hard to tell without purchasing it and at 40-euro it does seem like it must be close to done now...

No news from Ian yet so I couldnt wait any longer and splashed out on the phase-II release of the CS777.

In a word, ok four, "she sure looks pretty" ... but thats about it. The VC shows a lot of promise, panel work is nicely detailed, the sound pack is really great, and various internal animatons etc look nicely done. Access to and use of the CDU looks promising, and view switching in the cockpit seems to work very well. All that stuff is cosmetic though, and it seems that this is what this release was mostly about, and based on what we see now this thing is gonna be a beauty if the systems also hold up.

Sadly at present its barely hand-flyable, and thats only if you load the packaged flight out of Seattle without changing liveries otherwise things tend to get pretty hairy, very quickly. Its certainly not ready for prime time.

So in a nutshell if you subscribe to the business model of purchasing updates that CS have championed then by all means flick some cash their way now, but if you're expecting a funtional aircraft then you'd be better of waiting till the final release.

Hey Nick, did you catch my comments above? Its more than teething problems, its not ready for prime time, and as you say not really expected to be.
A little cheeky though asking for 40euros at the state its in now I reckon

This is the fun part , able to try and see the problems .. add to fix's , the great thing i have found is the working with the 'Go-Flight' module , as Dean mentioned a mission to even keep it level but using the module it was controlable .

The one thing i really want to play around with is the onboard MFD flight maps .. requires input with the maps ... but adds to a whole new dimension .. Airport chart from AIP

mmmm.. not sure what you mean by "the way most would enjoy" Ian but most of the fixes seem to be cosmetic, the thing is still pretty much hand-flyable only at best.
PFD is barely functional (e.g. no FD indicators so nothing to follow, no annunciations, or flap speed indicators etc), flight model seems very odd when climbing out from takeoff (even in the default CS saved flight state), auto-pilot wont engage for me (dont *think* its a procedural thing) so until it will engage theres no way to check out LNAV/VNAV etc (although strangely some on the forum dont have this problem), Some surprising interaction modes too, e.g. at first it seems like HDG select wont change on the MCP, usually you expect mouse-wheel to work? turns out you have to place the pointer in the right place and use left-click/right-click to alter it.
Good to see the viewpoint has been improved so you can actually see the center console now from the left seat.

Definately worth reading the forum posts for anyone else who grabs the update, lots of info about other things like moving the seat position FWD/BACK/UP/DOWN (without which you may not be able to see certain panel elements)

Hand flyable it is only , all - most function still in the Test Pilot sence off the word - least you can turn it and aim it for a runway .. nice thing it still work's with the autopilot module , I'll leave other areas around for tester to find problem with the workings .. course me interested with the mappy thingy , having followed the 737 build probably like yourself and having something that at least resembles the 777 cockpit .. "the way most would enjoy" as test pilots cool.gif

Yeah that EFB looks wicked, nice that there's a quick view select to get to it coz I was worried that it'd be a pain to pan and zoom in to see the charts, will be a winner that one huh as long as we can tailor the content seen in it
