FTX AI TRAFFIC V3.23 - New update Patch now available

The latest in our series of AI Traffic updates is now available and ready for download. This update patch includes the following:
Flight plans completely rewritten for Qantas, Qantaslink, Virgin Australia and Tiger Airways.
New flight schedules for Air Asia.
Virgin Australia ATR 72-500 aircraft added.
Air Australia aircraft and schedules removed.
Aardvark FSX AI models used in place of the older PAI FS9 ones. These models not only look better than the ones they replace, they are more frame rate friendly as well.
The Fruit Stand A380 AI model now used. This is a significant improvement over the earlier model.
A little under 200 New Zealand GA aircraft variations and associated flight plans added.
Lots of other improvements including new prop textures and improved texture files for most of the single engine Cessna aircraft.

Download from this link:- http://myftx.com/orb...IC323_PATCH.zip

Note this is an incremental patch. Please ensure you have the FTX AU Traffic base pack V3.20 installed plus patches V3.21 and V3.22 before applying this update.

Hmm link doesn't seem right ... v3.23 patch not listed on the FTX AI minisite

FTX had some hurdles to overcome in producing NZ GA AI, not least of which: Henry T would not let them use his payware Cessna's
Graham Ecclestone approached me in the early days of this release, with a view to plunder GNZLAP as necessary.
I demurred, because that package was carefully assembled to be authentic, and provide a "spread" of AI over NZ.
Leaving out half the fleet and just adding random freeware Cessna's would destroy what GNZLAP set out to achieve.
I did give permission for my repaints to be used, however I see Mal Lloyd has taken credit in aircraft.cfg files for the work.

To fuss or not to fuss? Mmm no... because Mal reworked the textures to fit FSX, and produced a prop that I'll just pinch straight back for personal use thank you.
This is what freeware does: build on earlier work and improve it.

What else could I snipe at?
Page 8 of the User Guide:
We’ll be honest with you – FTX AI TRAFFIC is designed mainly for users who have not yet invested in payware
traffic packages (such as MyTrafficX) or downloaded and installed freeware packages (such as WOAI).

made me sit up. This is a big step forward from the early days of VOZ, where anything installed on your sim was likely to be eaten by the VOZ machine.

So the FTX package is acknowledged as Eye Candy, and this will probably satisfy 90% of the ORBX customers, as we have seen with the scenery releases too.
Serious AI users can still decompile and plug in HTAI Cessna's and bits of GNZLAP as required.
In fact, were I an FSX user, I'd use all the new models and paints and create a GNZLAP 2012 out of it.
I'm not, so it ain't going to happen, but someone might well...

ORBX and FTX have created a monumental work catering for NZ flying; when NZNI is released, it will all be pretty good.
Dare I say, not quite as good as FS9 in its heyday, but perfectly usable.
Good on them.

I see this morning that NZNI is maybe not that far away .

Can somebody post some Pics of the NZ GA aircaft?

I didnt really like the look of the early development shots of some of the Cessnas but the final relase might be okay .. I dont want to destroy Charl's GNZLAP set up with the HTAI Cessnas with an inferior product. As Charl says maybe I could slot the HTAI Cessnas and others into the FTX set up

I'd also be interested to see pics...
Only problem is, the planes don't really go where they should. My sample plane JAG putters up and down between NZWN and NZPP in the FTX flight plans.
Mind you, I flew it as a passenger in Queenstown all of 5 years ago! so it might just be anywhere now.

ZK-JAG would appear to live in Wellington now so maybe realisticish?

...that'll teach me to check before I open my Big Mouth, eh?
I'm sure Graham has done what he can to make the FTX AI work well, and I have genuine admiration for his work.

What you will not get, is stuff like this - which to me is what NZ flying is all about:

They're all a crazy bunch in Tauranga , naming the entire training fleet like that ... only thing missing who was a regular there and knew how to open the doors into the terminal was mister sparrow and course , had the no for the crumbs ... unsure.gif I don't see an AI mister sparrow biggrin.gif
