Aerosim 787 released for FSX

Read and report on flightsim developers progress of upcoming or completed products

Postby deeknow » Wed May 09, 2012 11:26 pm

Good news for Boeing fans, Japanese sim house Aerosim have released their 787 for FSX, exterior modelling looks pretty nice, and from what you can see from the videos that are starting to appear on youtube the interior is pretty snazzy too. Hard to tell just how detailed the VC is yet as theres not much closeup action but the glass displays look pretty clear and the other panel components look like they have some reasonable 3d modelling...

As of today (9th/May) its only purchasable via their Japanese language shop/site, so I guess the docs may also only be in Japanese at present.
This certainly puts a little pressure on QualityWings etc to get their product to maket, the QW model does seem to be better modelled from their screenies so far

Good to see payware 787's coming on line. It beats me why developers go to so much trouble to model an interior to that degree. Someone might peer in there once or twice and then that is it. What a waste of valuable modelling time.
The problem with modelling current airliners is that they have highly complex and integrated flight management and autoflight systems. Unless this can be reasonably reproduced then the whole experience of flying this type of aircraft is diminished.
It at least needs to have a full working FMC with VNAV and an updatable and accurate database. Not sure if Aerosim have this but the QW might.
Remember the 50-50-90 rule. Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong!

the Aerosim website is err....rubbish and the screenshots for the 787 are not the best but if you look at all of them you can tell that if you clear away the muck there is a good product,..not PMDG standard perhaps but it looks solid. VC looks solid too, and considering taking the leap and getting it ...I want a 787 !

haha you...never biggrin.gif ,...but truly I would sooner lop my fingers off than purchase anything from them !. Also another lesson learnt...despite your expert and learned advice I went ahead and bought the aerosim 787 for ,...er....about $70 quid and am now quite quite angry,..externals are solid but frame hungry,..now the interior...,biggest frame hog ive ever used...really quite horrible...did I mention that for all that money you only get the 787-800 and 3 boeing schemes....i'd really like to get those aerosim fella's and lop their fingers off..right after I get a refund of my dosh. EVERYONE LEARN FROM THIS AND FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS TASTY AND COVERED IN GRAVY WAIT FOR QUALITYWINGS OR PMDG...OR REALLY ANYTHING ELSE APART FROM AEROSIM !!!. I would have paid $25-30 but $70 ?.....Ian I should have listened....you said no..not enough info....goddamn you were right !! winkyy.gif

Flight sim rule number 1. Prior to an add on purchase wait for the initial reviews.
Adrian can you get your money back on it?

Ah ha they released the 787. Good this will be part of my Birthday present the wife is buying me. She already got me the QW BAE and a painter is doing me a Canadian North on the QW. Now just have to find a painter to do a Canadian North on the 787 to pair with the Air New Zealand black tail 787 I saw at avsim. thanks for the HU.
