Flight gets cpr...

Read and report on flightsim developers progress of upcoming or completed products

Not that I use Flight myself, but I kinda thought it was dead. It appears not - for now, anyway:

Does anyone here use Flight? Has anyone else found that even on medium settings and fairly good gear it performs poorly? I know it's not a "real flightsim", but I had hoped it might live long enough to morph from what it was released as to a replacement for FSX. sad.gif

Hey IB. Yeah I saw that posted earlier in the week. Yeah I bought a copy, and most of the addons in a Steam special, think its pretty cool actually, and performance seems ok.
Haven't done any multiplayer on it which I suspect might bring more enjoyment, and not really into the career mode and easter egg thing to be honest.

Interesting. What settings are you able to use? Is the FPS performance fairly steady or do you have it dropping down towards "slide show" territory at times? I've tried it on a dual core 3.2GHz with 8GB RAM & Radeon 7770 and found I just couldn't tweak it right to get anything very good - had to go right down to very basic low settings to get any sort of smoothness of flight. Yet BF2 screams along happily on the same machine. Weird.

because Battlefield 2 has a far superior graphics engine that neither FSX or flshite possess ,...if only there was a dedicated flight simulator based on that engine or even better BF3 which in game flying is freakin aaawwweesssooommeee,...are but alas I cannae see that happening anytime soon.. sad.gif

Dunno whats up with your rig, must be something not quite right. I've got all sliders on Max and the FPS are rock solid. (specs in my .sig)

There are a variety of config tweaks for FSX here Pete at SOH http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/foru...p?51-FSX-Tweaks .
I can't find anything here for flight , but its probably going to help your settings for Flight .

It might be my hard drive - it's only an old 160GB SATA2. I had 2 flog the 1TB SATA3 64MB cache one for my other computer (who's drive died). I don't make the time to fly much these days: I find blowing stuff up more fun right now. biggrin.gif Hence BF2. The other problem might be that the PC that both FSX & Flight are on is a "cobbled together as I went" franken-beast. I didn't actually plan to build a 2nd computer (had 2 sell my main FS PC last year due to needing the money) - it just sort of happened through a series of opportunities that presented themselves. And y'all know what happens once a project forms and takes on a life of it's own... laugh.gif

That's the first time I've seen "Flight" mentioned since Microsoft shot it down in flames some time ago!

I've just had a peek on my hard drive, and it looks like like I've deleted it.... unsure.gif ....I wonder why?.... laugh.gif ...!

Paul....FS 2004 + FS Nav.... cool.gif ...!
