I only spent $10 but its looking like im going to cut this one away and wont worry about a gap filler till the PMDG

I paid the full price (70 odd NZ I think) and I'm disappointed with it. I have the Vnav issue also - noticed in the FMC it didn't lock in the CRZ alt (was purple colour) - I manually re-added the CRZ FL and it came right and the VNAV didnt dive anymore.

The whole strategy of releasing an exterior model and then progressively adding an alpha flight deck with the promise of regular updates is simply flawed. It is a grab to 'stake a first claim' and get a commitment from buyers and hopefully detract them from other up and coming models ie PMDG 777. At the end of the day the user just gets fed up with the bugs and unless a real die hard just throws in the towel. I can't see a whole lot of future business for CS if this is the ongoing sales strategy. I'm certainly not going to be held to ransom.
Remember the 50-50-90 rule. Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong!

The thing that amazes me over at the CS forum is the bagging of a product that people have purchased over the last several months with clear notification that it was still a 'work in progress', a beta model.
The amount of people that seem to think that the 777 should be perfect astounds me.
I actually though that it was good that CS were seeking input from us desk top aviators with regards to faults that we experianced with the product during its development.
I have been on board with it since day one and the earlier versions, for me, were unflyable.
However, now I seem to be able to get a reasonable flight out of it.
CS has never said that the 777 was finished nor the expansion packs being available, they just showed some dev shots of those.
If CS had not done the release in the way they have, can you imagine the amount of people that would be moaning for progress updates and pics.
I quess there is just no pleasing some......
I know the PMDG will be a more professional product by far going off their other products, but for me, I will still enjoy the CS777 for now.
Any way guys, just my 2 dollars worth..... biggrin.gif

Well "seeking input" is one way to put it (you are a glass-half-full person aren't you winkyy.gif ) another is "asking for handouts from punters in advance to build a product that may never get finished properly with no guarantees". Of course like you and I and the others here at vANZ who did buy into this for $us10 it's hardly gonna break the bank right?.

sorry to hear about paying full price , but

i will try your suggestion about re setting the alt so see if vnav works

@ ex

you cant blame people these day getting up set, 70 is a lot for some people, and CS haven't been the most helpful at times ,

me i refuse their ticket system as each time ive submitted a ticket, they replied with "do a fsx reinstall" thats why i will never again buy a full price product from them again ive bought everything but the 757 and 727, so far ive cut away the weapons, 707 and 767 due to problems and with the replies i get for support, im left to question the creditability they have at times out of frustration

but saying that, theyre are far better than other developers like nemeth and iris who dont do a thing at all by ignoring the post or give answers that have got nothing to do with the questioned asked and the most common one allowing the beta testers to try and answer the question , or better still, another developer who just bans you when you post any form of criticism both constructive or negative

i do hope they finish this soon for their sake, its upsetting a fair few people, doing releases like this IMHO doesnt work, all it does is draw unwanted criticism at them, and the longer it takes the more of a bad wrap they develop on the forums across the net from the "arm chair pilots"

Personal I think the Captains products are superb and rather people posting is it out yet,is it out yet, is it out yet - they take and give us the opportunity to play and put ideas forward and spot problems - give you the further Opportunity to best a test pilot ! .... the 737 was the classic in following the builds - this gives you the understanding what it takes produce a brilliant package .

As for the people who complain and jump up and down saying that don't work and that don't when across the Captains site it mentions work in progress - so short are peoples memories and from another thread the near words from another post "Get a life" winkyy.gif

Its a pleasure to have payed the full price for its a passion and willing to be the guinea pig , anybody wants something to complain about unsure.gif Go buy the completed fully tested FIRST CLASS SIMULATIONS SHORT SUNDERLAND ... at 40pounds it the most expensive trophy sitting directly above me just to remind me that i want to forget that one laugh.gif .... < TRUE

Yeah it's pretty interesting aye. For such a small community it's pretty amazing how many over-reactions and often hostile behavior there is in the various forums, and not just over payware.

True Dean, getting some'up front coin' to fund development is not really all that flash an idea from a user perspective, however I looked at the other CS products I have, eg the C130 (which is one of my favs), and that actually gave me the asurance that CS will get a finished product out.
I think I just get erked up from the negative baggers on things, no one tied them down and forced them to buy in to it.
I will go for the PMDG when it comes out, but till then, I will have fun with the CS777.
I guess in my old age I am a lot more patient and know that good things come to those who wait......lol biggrin.gif

Unfortunately there are a lot of simmers out there that got duped by Airsimmers A320 (and a couple with a flying boat winkyy.gif). Full of promise and with lots of promises. Never happened. In my old age I've learned to be wary.

lol......thank god I wasnt alone getting that dammmmm Sunderland (or should I say imitation of one).
I like my glass full by the way.
FSX for me is just a lota fun and I am happy to wait for the good stuff to come out, but like most I have purchased some stuff that is a pile of rubbish.
In fact have just done a complete reinstall, FSX was full of stuff I had loaded then wasnt happy with it so deleted.
Now I am being very selective with whet I purchase and load.
The next one that will rattle my chains is the Virtigo Mossie........now that is looking good in the dev shots.
